In 1895, the Automobile Club began its work in France. And 2 years later, the Central European Society of Motorists was formed in Germany. The Automobile Club of America has been operating since 1899. In Russia, the first sports organization of motorsport was the Moscow Automobile Club, which was established in 1900. This trend contributed to the popularization of motorsport.

In 1904, the International Automobile Federation was formed. After that, the competitions became more organized and were now held only on closed tracks. The Federation became the organizer of the first World Championship, which took place in 1925 and subsequently began to take place on a regular basis. Since 1935 the European Rally Championships have been held.

In our country, the first motorsport competitions were held in 1924 in Serpukhov. But only in 1948 they began to be organized systematically. This was due to the creation of the USSR Motorsport Federation and its entry into the International Federation. After the collapse of the Union, the Russian Automobile Federation was formed.

The most spectacular races, taking place on long paved roads, with sharp turns, which are laid on racetracks or on city streets. For safety, bumpers are placed on the sides of the track. Participants need to drive a certain number of laps in a set time. Spectators are watching the process of the race along the entire length of the track. There are a wide variety of cars that can take part in the race - both serial and special, not intended for everyday use. They are commonly referred to as fireballs.

These competitions have received great recognition among both athletes and spectators. This motorsport gives riders the opportunity to realize their potential without investing astronomical sums in vehicle preparation. About 10 cars take part in each race. It is an intense struggle where the most skillful driver wins. The cars taking part in the race are very different, which only increases the entertainment of the competition.

Autocross tracks are laid over rough terrain. Each participant is given 2 attempts to pass. At the same time, 2-4 cars participate in the race. The second race starts in 2 seconds. after the 1st, the third - after 25 sec. Each group is formed by the race organizer. The length of the distance is 1-1.5 km. The winner is the one who demonstrated the shortest travel time in one of the attempts. There are also penalties: 5 points for violation of the lateral boundaries of the track, 10 points for a false start.

Organized on direct routes. As a rule, these are general-purpose roads passing through rough terrain (asphalt, gravel, soil). Rallies are also organized in winter, on snow and ice. The tracks are not fenced off, and each participant has the right to choose the route at his discretion, however, everyone has one collection point. The length of the distance is 3-6 km, it can be subdivided into separate sections (stages). The time to overcome each section is summed up, penalty points are deducted for being late to checkpoints, after which the winner is determined.

Navigators help drivers navigate at high speeds. They track the direction of travel on the map and warn of obstacles and turns in literally seconds. The most famous is the Paris-Dakar Rally.
