However, there is no unequivocal answer to it, because this phrase denotes a whole complex of specialties.
International relations mean the relationship between government and commercial structures of different countries. Moreover, they can be of a very different nature: political, economic, cultural and many others.
Depending on the area of activity, such specialists are divided into many varieties. Here are the most common professions related to international relations:
International relations began to emerge in the primitive era. States as such did not exist at that time, but the tribes living in the neighborhood entered into various relations with each other. First of all, they were of an economic nature and their main purpose was the exchange of resources. There were no specially trained people to ensure such relations at that time: they were carried out by the leaders of tribal associations or other people who enjoyed great authority in the tribe.
In a form close to modern, the profession appeared in the first millennium BC with the emergence of the first state formations. They appeared on the territory of modern Iraq, Egypt, India, China. Over time, people began to appear in these states who worked in some area with representatives of other states. First of all, these were diplomats who are civil servants, as well as traders who sent goods outside the country.
It is believed that the profession took shape in its modern form in the 18th-19th centuries. It was then that the term "international relations" appeared (it was first used by the English philosopher Jeremy Bentham), and the basic principles applied in this area were formulated.
These are the tasks a specialist performs (by the example of an international lawyer):
For professionals responsible for another area of international activity, the responsibilities enshrined in the job description will be very different. The only common point is working with foreign countries.
