Walking tourism; why is it needed and what benefits it brings

Tourist customs or why greet strangers

Activities

According to statistics, among the types of sports and outdoor activities in resort areas, the most common:

  • Alpine skiing and snowboarding.
  • Surfing and its varieties.
  • Tracking (walking).
  • Snorkeling
  • Diving, underwater photography.
  • Cycling.
  • Parachute jumping, paragliding.
  • Rafting (rafting on mountain rivers).

Almost all of these varieties are extreme, require equipment and special training, and are much closer to sports than actually rest.

In addition to these (and a couple of dozen less popular options), a vacationer can try less complex, family subspecies of recreation, such as entertainment centers, water parks, sports stadiums.

For adults

Adults are limited in the choice of active recreation only by their courage, means and physical condition. Those vacationers who do not like to lie on the beach in the first days bypass or go around the resort, and on the rest of the days they try local entertainment. Swimming is especially popular in summer. In winter - long excursions to the mountains, skiing and boarding.

For children

Children have increased safety requirements for an excursion or attraction, so with a child you will have much fewer options. In summer resorts, it is worth visiting water parks, entertainment centers and beach playgrounds; in winter resorts, you can learn snowboarding or skiing on special “children's” tracks.

The child's leisure time depends on the accompanying adult: playing snowballs or beach volleyball are also types of outdoor activities.

Extreme Variations

Almost every resort has options for extreme recreation. In the mountains it is mountaineering, rafting in summer and alpine skiing in winter, at sea - windsurfing and diving. If the weather permits, you can jump with a parachute near most of the resort centers.

Active And Passive Rest

Everyone who has managed to travel to distant countries, most likely, can easily remember the tourists of a special kind met at the terminals of foreign airports: with tanned, weather-beaten faces, with durable backpacks instead of ordinary suitcase bags - and with covers of all kinds shapes and sizes covered with sports brand names.

Remember? Meet: these are extreme sportsmen, fans of one of the fastest growing and most promising types of recreation. The main question of this article sounds like this: where does just "sport" end - and "extreme sport" begins?

Any sport, both extreme and ordinary, is strength exercises, training, overcoming fear, laziness, habits of comfort. Any sport requires physical fitness, willpower and striving for the best results. But it is only in extreme sports that a new component appears - “voluntary risk”. It is his presence that makes the sport exciting, adrenaline-dependent - that is, extreme. Extreme sport is balancing on a certain line between victory and real danger, opposition to the forces of nature, external (objective) and internal (subjective) circumstances.

When practicing, say, swing rowing, the biggest danger is not meeting the standards, and while rafting on mountain rivers on a raft, an athlete, in case of non-compliance with safety rules and with insufficient qualifications, risks his own health. And even life, as it was in winter on the Yurunkash River. The essence of practicing extreme sports is that an extreme sportsman should be able not only to resist the forces of nature and overcome them, but also to be able to assess his strengths and capabilities very accurately.

Extreme sports (for example, delta or paragliding, rafting), associated with an increased level of risk, require from the tourist not only physical, but also psychological preparation, calculation, as well as responsible courage. People consider extreme sports dangerous, but the danger arises only when there is thoughtlessness of actions and the instinct of self-preservation is lost.

Winter extreme options

Recently, the winter extreme has begun to gain momentum: such disciplines as gibbing (performing complex figures on springboards and railings) and freeride (skating on virgin lands) have become fashionable among young people. In general, snowboarding and skiing in any of their extreme directions are gaining popularity - in many ski resorts competitions and congresses of pro riders (riding professionals, extreme masters) are held, giving master classes there.

In the 2008-2009 season, apparently, such types of extreme slalom as heli-skiing (throwing on skis to a mountain peak from a helicopter and descending on virgin mountain lands) and heli-board (that the same, but on the "board"). And also snow-kayaking (descent on snow from a mountain ridge on a kayak), which became widespread abroad last year and has already joined the culture of Russian extreme.

True, if, say, Canada and the United States already have more than 4 million owners of snowmobiles, in Russia riding them is only gaining momentum.

Have you noticed how many new recreational activities have appeared in the last ten years? Lots of. And in this article we decided to introduce you to some of them. Let's find out about popular, interesting and unusual holidays in English.

Everyone knows that walking tourism is a useful and wonderful thing. However, what is the real benefit of hiking? I propose to consider the issue in more detail. Let's start with the most basic. Each parent strives to raise their child healthy, strong and hardy. We send our children to sections and circles, in the hope that this will help. We wrap the children up so warmly that they can hardly move. And such a habit is instilled - first we wrap up the children, then they themselves dress too warmly. And what effect do we get? And the opposite - the child grows up frail and pampered. Slightly ill and ill for a long time. This is because real health should be achieved in other ways. The essence is as simple as the world - for the development of immunity, it is necessary to constantly accustom the body to the influence of the external environment, to temper it. And what is better for hardening the body than hiking?

Why is hiking good?

Hiking is a great and amazingly effective way to raise a healthy and tempered person. It must be admitted that he does not develop muscles as much as sports disciplines, for example, weightlifting or wrestling. However, many can envy the health of an experienced tourist. No other sport is as strong as tourism. The tourist is not afraid to get his feet wet, get wet in the rain or catch a cold in the wind. And this, by the way, is one of the secrets of longevity. In hiking, the human body experiences large, but uniform loads over time. By taking part in a hiking trip, you can be cured of some diseases.

Hiking not only develops endurance and has a beneficial effect on health, but also develops a number of useful skills in a person. For example, orientation on the map, or correct walking. Many of us, living in cities, literally go to the store for bread in cars. We spend our holidays on beaches and in hotels. Those who are poorer (or maybe smarter) are in the garden and in the hammock. We literally forget how to walk. To overcome 15-20 kilometers on a simple road, not more often, is already an unbearable problem for us. But the tourist knows how to walk.

He also knows and knows many other seemingly small and inconspicuous skills. It is these skills that make him fit for life. A person knows what kind of wood is suitable for a fire, how to make a fire and prepare food. How to navigate and not get lost in the forest. Knows how to pack a backpack after all. And we are talking not only about sportsmen with tourist categories, but about ordinary people who like to spend their time in nature. Athletes and just experienced tourists know how to survive in the taiga and sleep in the snow, build homemade rafts and raft them down the rivers.

What's new in hiking?

Camping trips revitalize and shake up our school knowledge in geography, biology, astronomy. All those natural sciences that we passed in passing in school. Adult life requires us to have a narrow specialization, and when you are a narrow specialist, the rest of the knowledge passes by you. In a sense, this is degradation. And on hikes, all that informational, like ballast, suddenly becomes useful and important.

During the hikes, we get to know not only the romance of the camp, but also with the field life. If you are not sure that your child will be able to endure the hardships of a camping life, then take him with you a couple of times. Let him learn not from books what it is like to go on a hike. In a tourist group, everyone has their own responsibilities, this will teach the child to discipline.

Why Hiking?

Hiking is a great way to expand your horizons and enrich your spiritual life, to experience the beauty of nature. You cannot know the beauty of nature only from photographs processed in a photo editor. Not a single photo is capable of conveying those games of light and shadow, those colors that a person sees. During the hike, you not only enjoy the views, but also learn to overcome difficulties. But all the hardships are very difficult to overcome alone, therefore, you should go on a hike in groups. For the common good, group members can overcome their own fatigue and weakness, ignore personal likes and dislikes, they become better as individuals. The participants of the hike help each other and make sure that order is observed. It develops discipline and self-awareness.

Many modern people cannot imagine their life without travel. Every year, millions of adventurers set out to explore new corners of the globe. But few people seriously thought about why tourism is important for any economically developed country.

Historical moments

People began to travel in ancient times, long before the advent of writing. In those days, it was necessary to develop new territories in order to find food, as well as to defend against enemies and natural disasters.

When people began to lead a sedentary lifestyle, travel became a way for them to exchange goods with residents of other settlements. Campaigns were also organized in the event of the outbreak of hostilities. In the process of trade and the seizure of new territories, an exchange of ideas, skills and outlooks on life began to take place.

During the reign of kings, noble families moved from summer palaces to winter ones and vice versa. Some possessions occupied a large territory, and in order to maintain order in distant lands, the rulers regularly had to get into a carriage and go around the whole kingdom. A lot of people were involved: ambassadors, courtiers, petitioners, soldiers, coachmen. And a visit to a neighboring state was necessary to maintain good relations with other rulers, as well as for marriage. Naturally, from time to time it was necessary to stop and organize rest for the monarch and his subjects.

Tourism is currently one of the most important economic sectors. It is not surprising, because this direction opens up new channels for the sale of products. Countries in which tourism is developed receive a stable income. New establishments are opening, and already operating organizations do not lack clients. Therefore, each state is interested in increasing the flow of travelers.

The opportunity to visit different cities and countries allows tourists to get acquainted with other cultures and values, to see interesting sights. Now you can easily choose a place to spend your vacation. Most countries are open to travelers, in addition, the cost of vouchers has become affordable for citizens of different income levels.

Leisure tourism

Despite the fact that in ancient times most people traveled only when necessary, there were those for whom travel was a way to satisfy their curiosity. After all, not everyone can live in peace, not knowing what is behind the forest or behind the mountain. Such a study of the area might not bring obvious benefits, but it did contribute to the acquisition of new knowledge. Travelers shared their experiences with other people and those who had the courage to repeat their experience.

Now this kind of travel is called leisure tourism. It is believed that it first appeared in Europe, during the existence of the Roman Empire, and appeared again after the journey of Columbus. At first, travel was only available to the rich, but as the industry developed, the middle class also got the opportunity to leave their country.

Active tourism is a special multifaceted world with its own laws and traditions. In the first hike, the newly minted tourist, having admired the beautiful nature, filled with intimate communication with friends, begins to learn the rules that his more experienced comrades adhere to. Not all marching customs are clear, some pleasantly surprise, others discourage, seem strange, but they leave few people indifferent.

Imagine a situation: a young traveler steps on a hiking trail for the first time. On the first day, surprise - these tourists greet those they meet. And he greets in return, so as not to be branded as an ill-mannered person. Then other customs emerge. For many years they were passed from instructors to participants, forming an unwritten set of rules for tourist life. In different groups, with different mentors, they may differ, but in general there are also common ones that all people who travel with a backpack adhere to.

Politeness is a tourist's weapon

The hike teaches you to live in harmony with your group mates and in harmony with nature, instills in the participants a respectful attitude towards everyone and everything that surrounds them. This is unobtrusive and often continues after the journey is over. The following customs can be attributed to the rules of marching politeness:

  • Greet oncoming tourists and locals. This is a good tradition that has become a habit so that you want to greet passers-by in the city. This is a way to show other travelers that you have good intentions. And wishes for health and an easy way on a difficult hike are always relevant;
  • Make way. On a mountain slope, those who go down always miss those who go up, it is harder for those who go up;
  • Hospitality. It is customary to invite a group that has entered your parking lot to the fire, treat them to tea, and share firewood. After a hot mug, life will sparkle with bright colors, and the neighbors will have the strength to set up their own camp;
  • Leave the parking lot cleaner than it was before you. Remember that we are all guests of nature. The most important task of a tourist is to preserve it in its original form: not to litter, not leave or minimize the traces of his stay in the mountains and forest. There are many environmental rules, but the most important thing is that all the garbage found in the parking lot is taken with them or destroyed, down to the smallest candy wrappers;
  • The mountains are spoken of with respect. Experienced climbers will never say “we are conquering”. They believe that the mountain may or may not be allowed. Or maybe not let go, because climbing to the top is only half the way. It will become successful only after the team returns to base camp.

I hacked myself - hack my comrade

On a hike, there is a possibility of a difficult situation when everyone may need help. And it doesn't matter who it is - your close friend and partner or an unfamiliar tourist who is in trouble. Sports tourism and mountaineering have always been about team spirit, camaraderie. So don't forget this:

  • Seven one are waiting. During the hike, each participant is an important part of the group, and if someone falls behind or does not feel well, then everyone worries. Those who are weaker, who walk slower, are put at the beginning of the group, especially protected. If necessary, they unload so that the team can continue to move in a close-knit group;
  • Help is not asked - it is offered! If you see the confusion of a comrade, but you know what to do, offer your help. Look around the route and the parking lot more often, help your comrades, this will solve many problems. The opposite is also true: if you need help, do not hesitate to ask for it. Friends will help and teach!
  • It's nice to share on a hike. If you took something tasty from home over and above the layout - treat everyone. In an emergency, be ready to share your equipment and things with your comrades. Next time they will definitely help you too.

Fried marshmallows are a delicacy of tourist cuisine.

Zavpita gets eaten first

The impressions we get on the hike, our mood and desire to go further, often depend on little things. In the world of tourists, there are customs that help to raise the team spirit, relieve emotional stress after difficult transitions, and allow you to correctly distribute roles in the team.

  • Assignment of responsibilities. Before the hike, the participants distribute positions among themselves. In the tourist group, in addition to the leader, there is always a food manager, equipment manager, repairman, photographer and chronicler. Each member has important responsibilities. Cooking is the responsibility of the attendants, who change daily. You can talk about positions for a long time and in an interesting way - this is an important part of a sports trip;
  • Delicious surprises. The food for the group during the trip is thought out and planned in advance. The manager and the manager are still engaged in the preparation of the menu for the entire trip “on the shore”. Experienced tourists always take with them all sorts of delicious surprises in addition to the necessary products. You have no idea how much joy a can of pineapples or a waffle cake, "quite by accident" found in a backpack after a hard climb to the place of the night, causes!
  • Passing chocolate. Each significant milestone on the path must be noted and fixed in memory. For example, on mountain and hiking trips, climbing a pass or a summit, tourists share a specially prepared chocolate bar for everyone. Sometimes the realization that the cherished chocolate bar awaits you up there, gives strength and vivacity, allowing you to make the last leap towards the goal;
  • Trace in history. In the same place, on the passes and peaks, it is customary to write and leave pass notes in noticeable places, which informs about the composition of the group, the city from which the tourists came, the route of the hike, the address of the leader or the tourist club. The notes left by tourists who have been here earlier are taken and sent to the address indicated in it after the end of the trip. Thus, the note becomes proof that your group has visited this mountain or pass;
  • Dedication to tourists. This solemnly playful ritual is different for everyone. The instructor conducts it for those who went on a hike for the first time or made their first ascent. Usually the details are shrouded in mystery, and the initiation is carried out at the end of the hike;
  • Gusyatnik. The traditional gathering of the team some time after returning home. A report has already been prepared, photographs have been printed, a film has been edited. Tourists remember the days gone by and the battles where they fought together. During conversations, a baked goose is traditionally eaten (you can do with a barbecue), certificates of the trip offset are handed over, future trips are planned.

In fact, the list of tourist traditions and rituals is endless. You can get to know them, understand their importance and necessity only on a journey, plunging into the incredible world of a tourist trip. Write in the comments about the unusual traditions that were in your hikes.
