Travel is a great reason to save money!
You ask: “is this possible ?!”. Of course yes, if you know how. A few years ago, we always took with us on trips a large amount of withdrawn euros, which we exchanged for local currency in an exchanger with a huge commission. Of course, cash is good, but it is very unreliable - the risk of being robbed or simply losing money is extremely high. Later, having switched to the bank card system, we also discovered the world of cashbacks and bonuses, which we were very happy about ... But first things first!
In this article, we have compiled a selection of seven of the best bank cards (personally tested!) for travelers.
So, what is the difference between an ordinary person's card and a traveler's card (no, not a smoker ?)?
According to these parameters, we will consider the cards described below
Tinkoff Debit Card
Everyone has long heard about the popular debit from Tinkoff, which blew up its competitors with high cashback and the ability to receive money for the balance on the account (we also cannot remain silent about their excellent marketing).
It is difficult to overestimate the importance of good maps in a campaign. As much as we can, as we know - the well-known oriental wisdom can be correlated with many things in life, but this statement fully and unconditionally applies to a tourist and his pile of cards in a backpack. The lack of good maps and the ability to use them is one of the forced reasons for hiring a guide. The latter is fraught with unnecessary expenses, less experience points for the campaign, as well as accompanying adventures a la Frodo and Sam with their guide Gollum.
The ability to read a map and navigate through it in the terrain is a necessary skill for any tourist and, even more so, a solo traveler. Unlike a group hike, a loner has no one to blame for the need to choose the right path - he is his own leader, navigator, caretaker, black climber and tooth fairy.
The basics of orienteering are easy to learn, if you would like to. The web is full of specialized literature, and the theory is perfectly fixed in the first leisurely hike. And if an IQ just above a guinea pig is enough to navigate according to the schemes of popular routes with well-trodden paths and pointers, then in regions remote from civilization you have to break your head.
At the same time, working with maps and diagrams is not limited to only one orientation. It is necessary to be able to represent the relief when reading the map, remember the main details and correctly correlate even seemingly secondary landmarks with the map. At the very least, therefore, a GPS navigator for a good traveler always plays the role of an auxiliary device, but by no means the main means for planning a route.
The topographic map and GPS navigator, however, are not the only means of orientation during the hike. Difficult routes also have to use different schemes and descriptions. At the same time, it is quite difficult to work on them without knowing the basic terminology in the designation of a particular form of relief.
The available maps and materials can be divided into the following:
Each of the listed positions has its pros and cons, which makes them a priority or vice versa, unnecessary, in each separate trip. Somewhere there are enough banal tourist schemes for hamsters, somewhere there are enough good ridges and schemes for passing the passes, and in other mountain taiga regions you have to arm yourself with almost everything that you can get.
General Staff maps are a "classic" still used by travelers in non-pop areas. Most modern paper tourist maps, ridges and schemes are based on them.
The General Staff maps, which are now in the public domain, were created on the basis of aerial photography data. In the relatively populated part of the Immense, the data were later refined by military topographers using ground reconnaissance.
By design and in theory, since the terrain was constantly changing - fords were displaced, bridges were destroyed, old roads were overgrown and new ones were laid - then updates to the maps were made by local military units and military commissariats, transferred to the appropriate services and then were displayed on subsequent map prints. In the conditions of sparsely populated areas, such a method of "detailing" was the only solution that made it possible to display reality.
Everyone who travels around Russia, around the world, looking for treasures, hunting and fishing is faced with the need to use different maps.
Some people still use paper ones, and this is correct, especially in a situation where it is not possible to use electronic gadgets due to the lack of electricity or communication.
Someone uses car navigation maps such as Yandex maps, or Navitel and Progorod, but they are inconvenient when traveling on foot over rough terrain.
We have compiled a list of smartphone applications that will help tourists, treasure hunters, fishermen and hunters and other adventurers navigate forests and fields using GPS and without using expensive devices like Garmin.
The requirements that we set for the programs are as follows:
As a result, we have chosen the following applications for smartphones on Android OS, for IOS they probably also exist:
Who can use the cards:
Every sixth inhabitant of the Earth is a tourist. The cumulative contribution of tourism to world GDP reaches $ 7.2 trillion. The industry directly or indirectly supports 1 in 11 jobs worldwide. Since last year, tourism has been under the influence of several global factors: strong fluctuations in world currencies, falling oil prices and deteriorating security situations in many regions of the world. Despite this, the industry is not only coping with the difficulties, but also continues to grow. Tourist flows have temporarily switched from risky directions to safer ones. And weakening currencies and falling prices for raw materials have made a number of countries, and in particular Russia, more attractive for inbound tourism.

The number of tourists is growing, demonstrating the industry's ability to adapt to economic instability and dire international security.
In 2015, the number of tourists in the world reached 1.186 billion, an increase of half a billion over the year. After the crisis of 2008-2009, the tourist flow has been steadily growing at more than 4% per year. According to the forecast of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in the coming years the number of tourists will continue to increase by an average of 3.3% per year and will reach 1.8 billion by 2030. Tourist flow to developing countries will grow twice as fast as to developed ones - by 4.4% against 2.2%. As a result, by 2030 Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa will provide 57% of all international arrivals, while now more than half of tourists flock to Europe. The development of new directions is also facilitated by the fact that air transport confidently takes the place of the main means of transportation for tourists. Thus, in 2015, the total volume of passenger air transportation in the world increased by 6.5%.
Russia stayed in the top ten popular destinations, despite the fact that Moscow and St. Petersburg were at the top of the Travel + Leisure readers' rating of the most inhospitable cities in the world
France, the USA, Spain and China at the end of last year retained their leadership in the top 10 countries popular with tourists. They are the same, but in a different order, tops the top 10 in tourism revenue (see part 2). Russia also stayed in the top ten popular destinations, despite the fact that Moscow and St. Petersburg were at the top of the rating of the most inhospitable cities in the world, compiled by the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine.
According to UNWTO experts, in 2015 the tourism industry was influenced by several unfavorable factors - from strong fluctuations in exchange rates to the migration crisis and the growing terrorist threat. However, tourism has traditionally been quick to adapt to most shocks. As noted in a study by IPK International, in recent years, only the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in the United States and the world economic crisis of 2008-2009 inflicted serious damage on a global scale. In both cases, the industry took one to two years to recover. Usually the term is shorter. The impact of various crises on tourism was also studied by analysts from the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC). They concluded that the most negative effect is political instability, which can reduce the attractiveness of an entire country or region indefinitely. After the terrorist attacks, which a priori cause a more acute reaction, the tourist flow is restored much faster. No matter what happens, most tourists still go on trips, only switching to safer, in their opinion, directions. For example, recently, instead of the popular summer resorts of Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey, many have chosen the calmer coast of Spain, Portugal and Croatia.
Tourism revenues have grown 12 times since 1980. Weak euro and ruble have increased the attractiveness of the eurozone countries and Russia and in the eyes of foreign tourists.
According to estimates by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in 2015, tourism revenues in the world grew in real terms by 4.4%, to $ 1.26 trillion. The total contribution of the industry to global GDP reaches $ 7.2 trillion. It directly or indirectly supports 1 in 11 jobs worldwide. Last year, 2.5 million jobs were created that directly serve tourists - in travel agencies, the hotel business, air travel, and restaurants. The share of tourism in the global export of goods and services has grown to 7%, the industry is second only to the fuel and chemical industries and overtakes food and auto industries. According to the forecasts of the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC), in 2016 the sector will outpace the global economy in growth.
In 2015, China and the United States were leaders in income from inbound tourism and, at the same time, in the amount that tourists from different countries leave abroad. According to Global Blue, one of the world's largest Tax Free operators, Chinese tourists dominate the global duty-free market. The country ranks first in tourist spending on shopping, accounting for a third of all global sales. In 2015, the growth of Chinese spending on shopping abroad averaged 58% yoy, while in the first half of the year in the eurozone it reached 75%. A weak euro against the backdrop of a strong dollar is attracting more and more Americans to Europe. In the third quarter of last year, in terms of spending in the eurozone, they almost caught up with the Chinese. American tourists occupy the fourth line in the list of leaders in purchases abroad, their share is up to 5% of all sales.
