If you do make up your mind, now is spring and, for your first hiking trip to be successful, it's time to start preparing for it. Trekking safety rules

Hiking not only allows you to have a good time, but also has a beneficial effect on your body: it soothes the nerves, invigorates, strengthens and rejuvenates the body. After a week of hiking, you will feel more refreshed and energized than a month at home.

Of course, such a beneficial effect is possible only if you follow all the safety rules during the hike. And here are the most basic ones:

  • On any trip you go with a group of people, whether it be your close friends or acquaintances, or just a specially organized group. And it is extremely important to keep up with your team while moving along the route. No matter how trifling this rule may seem at first glance, statistics show that most accidents happen exactly when the tourist decides to deviate from the route on his own. After all, your first hiking trip shouldn't be associated with trouble?
  • The second rule is just as important. If during the hike you have any health problems, even minor ones, you should immediately inform the other members of the group. You shouldn't be silent about it. Otherwise, it may not only prevent you from taking the necessary measures in time and continue your journey safely, but it will create difficulties for the whole group if your not-so-well-being worsens.

Types and categories of hiking

The novice traveler should know that hiking tours are divided into types depending on the direction of travel and into categories depending on the complexity of the route. The types of hikes include:

  • Standard hiking trip, which does not imply any ascents and descents that require special physical preparation.
  • Hiking mountain hike, for which it is recommended to have at least minimal physical training, climbing skills and special mountain equipment.

Well, now let's move on to the hiking categories. There are only five of them:

  • The first category includes hikes with a length of 100-130 km and a duration of 6-7 days.
  • The second category includes routes with a length of 130-160 km and a duration of 8-9 days.

  • You should also carefully observe the drinking regime. Lack of water in the body can cause discomfort, dizziness, weakness, and even a rise in body temperature. So first calculate how much drinking water you need and stock up on it in sufficient quantities (the norm is 2-2.5 liters per day per person).
  • Your clothes and shoes should be sporty and comfortable. It should not hinder your movements, rub or cause discomfort. Otherwise, your trip will very quickly turn into real torment.
  • Of course, when going on your first hike, make sure you have all the equipment you need with you. However, special attention should be paid to piercing and cutting objects. They must be packed in sturdy and secure cases.
  • During the hike, you should drink only boiled water. It is not known what bacteria may be in this or that stream. Even if the source is considered clean, and the water in it is drinkable, there is no absolute certainty that your body will accept raw water well. At the very least, it's best not to take risks if you don't want to get an upset stomach. It should be boiled over good heat for at least five minutes.
  • And the last very important rule. Observe safety precautions when making a fire. Make sure you put it out when you leave. Do not endanger nature, because a forest fire will undoubtedly not leave a positive impression on your vacation.
