General information

The main feature of equestrian tourism (riding) is the ability to carry equipment and food in bag (Altai. "archemak") attached to the saddle of a horse or on a pack horse.

Most of the routes are for people who do not have any prior training in horse riding. Experienced instructors conduct the necessary preparatory training at the camp sites according to specially developed programs. After completing the training, the tourist acquires the skills of caring for the horse, learns to saddle and harness it, to control it. For experienced horse-riding tourists, more complex routes are being developed, such as, for example, the route to the Tuyuk Lakes in the Altai Mountains.

Equestrian tourism

Living in a city, you always wonder what to do on the weekend. Over time, everything becomes boring - and shopping trips, and gatherings in a cafe with friends, and walking in nature. And I really don't want to sit at home. And then, one fine day, an offer comes in to ride horses with friends. If you agree, then, as a rule, after returning from a horse ride, answer all the questions of your acquaintances with one enthusiastic phrase:

"Horseback riding is great!"

Congratulations. Now you have become a full-fledged member of a large family called "horse riders". There are millions of them. However, not all of them can immediately answer the question "Why do you like to ride horses?" And really, why? Probably, the reasons can be very different. Let's take a look at the most common ones.

Horse riding is a guarantee of a good mood

Most often, when they talk about horse riding, they emphasize that it gives a feeling of complete freedom and relaxedness. As if you are flying somewhere. And all fears, worries, excitements evaporate.

Looks like it really is. Scientists have proven that communicating with a big and kind animal, such as a horse, calms and relieves stress. What is important for a city dweller.

For those who care about this, there is no need to go on distant horseback riding trips. It will be enough for them to ride a horse on:

  • manege ;
  • levade (specially fenced area)
  • park paths

To do this, you should find the nearest riding club - there are a great many of them now. Experienced trainers will pick up the horse, explain how to sit on the horse, how to get into the saddle and jump to the ground, how to communicate with the horse - both standing on the ground and sitting in the saddle.

How to Prepare

The initial stage of learning to ride here, like in riding schools, usually takes place on the lane - a long rope with which the trainer can control the horse, controlled by an inexperienced rider. After - the animal and the rider are left alone, and the trainer only gives tips, advice, recommendations.

NEW YEAR IN THE SADDLE!

Equestrian sport, according to the International Equestrian Federation, is divided into several types: show jumping, dressage, equestrian eventing, horse races, driving, vaulting, reining. Olympic sports include dressage, triathlon and show jumping.

High School of Riding (Dressage)

High School of Riding is a sport in which the rider demonstrates the art of handling a horse in a variety of gaits. This sport is included in the program of the Olympic Games and belongs to the classic equestrian sports. Currently, the higher riding school is available not only for professional athletes, but also for amateurs.

Dressage competition is about demonstrating the art of handling a horse and includes both dressage elements and special dressage exercises. The rider must demonstrate good preparation and fine handling of the horse. It is in dressage that a complete understanding of the rider and the horse is achieved.

For more skillful handling of the horse, a mouthpiece headband is put on it. In this case, in addition to the bit, a metal mouthpiece also acts on the horse's mouth. It is located on the toothless part of the horse's mouth below the bit. A special chain (or strap) attached to the rings of the mouthpiece cheeks increases its pressure. When riding a horse with a mouthpiece headband, the rider disassembles four reins in his hands: two snaffle reins and two mouthpieces, with which he works separately. Only a very experienced rider should use the mouthpiece headband.

Dressage competitions are preceded by organizational measures such as: credentials committee (which checks the documents), the brood (where the health of the horses is checked) and the draw (which determines the number of the rider's performance).

Competitions take place either in a closed arena or on a flat area with grass or sand cover. The size of the site is 20 by 60 m. Along the long and in the middle of the short sides of the platform, stands with letters are installed, according to which the athlete determines where to start and where to end this or that exercise.

In Fig. a platform for holding competitions in dressage, where: a - the cabin of the senior judge, b - the cabins of the side judges, c - the cabin of the counting commission, d - the fence of the arena, e - the detachable part of the fence for the entry and exit of the rider.

The rider must follow the sequence of the elements of the higher riding school and meet the specified time. The number of elements, the degree of their complexity, transitions from one to another, and make up the difference between one program and another. The performance, depending on the program, takes from 7 to 10 minutes. A standard warm-up lasts about half an hour. It is designed to prepare the muscles and tendons of the horse, its nervous system for stress. Only after this is it possible to work on collection, bending, and so on. It happens that the warm-up is lengthened, taking into account the individual characteristics of the animal.

Preparing for a Dressage Competition

The preparation for the competition also includes the study of the scheme of the upcoming ride, which regulates absolutely all the movements of the rider in the arena and indicates what exactly he should pay attention to when performing the elements. The athlete must memorize this scheme and strictly follow it during the performance.

The judges will evaluate the performance of each exercise on a ten-point system, then the results of all the judges are added up and the total score of the athlete performing on the horse is obtained. Especially appreciated is the horse's ease of exercise, smooth transitions from one element to another. At the same time, the strenuous work of the rider remains imperceptible for the audience - it seems that the horse itself, of its own free will, performs the most complex elements.

For violation of the sequence of the program, exceeding the set time and errors in the execution of exercises, the judges deduct penalty points from the total amount of points. The individual winner is the rider with the most points. In the team championship, the total score of all team members is taken into account. In this case, it is also necessary to score the highest number of points.
