Considering the statistics of tourism in Russia, it is worth noting that both outbound and inbound indicators in the country have increased. In addition, domestic tourism has also received some development in recent years. Based on Rosstat data on the number of tourists in Russia, here are the latest data from the service:
Do not forget that the statistics of both inbound and outbound tourism include not only the usual trips on vacation, but also the following types:
Statistics on this area in the Russian Federation indicate that in terms of both international and domestic tourism, the following cities are most frequently visited in the country:
If we consider outbound tourism, the following tourist destinations are most popular among Russians:
Among the former CIS countries, the growth for 2019 in the number of Russian tourists was shown:
It is difficult to imagine something more complex, heterogeneous and multi-component to describe than the huge immense Russia. Here there is once the capital, but in the strict spirit and refined architecture, the bureaucratic Petersburg remains so to this day. And a wide merchant, always dashingly revelry, still famous for its domes, headed by the bell tower of Ivan the Great, now the capital is Moscow. And the cradle of Russian statehood is the ancient Veliky Novgorod, and the eternally fighting border Pskov, the Volga Yaroslavl, Kazan and the famous "pocket of Russia" - Novgorod Nizhniy. And also the great Siberian expanses with a variety of natural attractions and ancient cities, the seemingly inaccessible Far Eastern limits, so rich in beauty, if and the harsh climate. Russia is so large and diverse that everyone will find something interesting here for themselves.
An excursion is creativity, and not only for guides, but also for guests: you can be not just spectators, but also “second directors”. Ask any questions, contact with various wishes - thanks to them the walk will only become more interesting!
Take a break from the bustle of the city, enjoy the virgin nature.
All inclusive, take only your passport with you!

"The subtleties of tourism" recommends TripShop - daily bus and walking tours of St. Petersburg and its suburbs, with visits to museums, palaces and picturesque parks. And also the famous red double-decker bus Hop-On Hop-Off.
Both capitals from year to year attract hundreds of thousands of tourists like a magnet. Museums, art galleries, palaces, churches, monasteries, monuments, historical buildings, gardens and parks, theaters and concert halls, skating rinks and water parks - all this is in abundance, both in the North and in the official capital. To visit all possible excursions is simply unrealistic. Here you will find Pushkin Petersburg, Bulgakov's Moscow, tours to bars, and theater marathons. Cultural life is in full swing both in St. Petersburg and in Moscow: festivals, fairs, exhibitions, sports competitions are held - in a word, there are a lot of opportunities for event tourism.
The Rating Information Communications Center and the Otdykh v Rossii magazine conducted the fifth annual survey on the development of domestic and inbound tourism, the tourist attractiveness of Russian regions, their tourism potential and popularity among domestic and foreign tourists.
2019 was marked by a number of significant events and HR decisions for the industry.
On February 7, a new head of the Federal Agency for Tourism was appointed. Oleg Safonov was replaced by 33-year-old Zarina Doguzova, who previously held the position of head of the department for support of major international events in the Office of the President of the Russian Federation for public relations and communications.
The new head of the department, who moved in the spring after the Ministry of Economic Development to one of the Moscow City towers, began to form a team and work on a new tourism development strategy. During the year, the deputy heads of Rostourism Nikolai Korolev and Alexei Konyushkov lost their posts. Several advisors were appointed. Natalya Osipova, who previously worked in a managerial position at the TUI tour operator and for several years headed the Tourism Agency of the Sakhalin Region, became responsible for the development of tourism in the regions. It is expected that the staff of Rostourism will be significantly updated.
Ilya Klochkov, Director of the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, who was appointed in March 2019, did not stay in his post either. Now acting head of the department Anton Betin, financier, adviser to the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
On the initiative of the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova, in October, at a regular meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Association "Association of Tour Operators in the Field of Outbound Tourism" TURPOMOSCH ", it was decided to strengthen the Supervisory Board's control over the use of the Association's funds in the powers and amounts that he can spend on his activities.
In April 2019, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets held the first meeting of the Coordinating Council for Tourism Development under the Government of the Russian Federation in a new composition. In addition to officials and representatives of the tourism industry, it also includes members of the children's tourism corps, which this year ceased its activities. Then there were several more meetings. On December 4, during a meeting of the Corps Council, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development Mikhail Babich announced plans to subsidize the infrastructure in the regions. From 2020, the tourism program will be included in the state program "Economic Development and Innovative Economy". In 2020, 4.8 billion rubles will be allocated from the budget for the infrastructure of complex investment projects, 10 billion rubles in 2021 and 9.8 billion rubles in 2022.
On September 20, by order of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, the "Strategy for the development of tourism in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2035" was approved - a document that the tourism industry has been waiting for since the beginning of the year.
The Strategy provides for the comprehensive development and improvement of tourist areas, including the development of tourist, communal and transport infrastructure, construction and reconstruction of main infrastructure facilities, the formation of a tourist product taking into account the natural, cultural, and ethnic diversity of Russian regions.
The target indicators of tourism development specified in the strategy, which the authorities intend to achieve by 2035, are quite ambitious: an increase in the volume of the tourism industry from 3158 billion rubles to 16.306 billion rubles; more than doubling the number of domestic tourist trips per one resident of Russia; an increase in the export of tourism services from 8.9 billion to 28.6 billion US dollars; an increase in investment in tourism by three times.
Approval of the program of measures for the implementation of this strategy is expected in the near future.
Also on December 17, the government of the Russian Federation introduced a bill on improving the legal regulation of the activities of tour guides, guides-translators and instructors-guides. According to the bill, the services of a guide (guide) and a guide-interpreter on tourist routes will be provided by Russian citizens who have passed certification. The certification will be carried out every five years by the state authority of the constituent entity of the Federation in the field of tourism, in the territory of which the guides and guide-translators intend to provide such services. The adoption of the law will make it possible to put things in order in this service sector, where many unscrupulous "guides" have appeared. This is especially true for guide-translators working with Chinese tourists, where foreigners often work without appropriate education and qualifications.
Another good news for the market was the decision of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev to approve the rules for providing subsidies and grants to entrepreneurs for the development of domestic and inbound tourism from the federal budget. The amount of such a grant should not exceed 3 million rubles.
This year has become difficult, and according to most rating experts, catastrophic for the tourism and hotel industry in Russia. She was included in the list of those most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Obviously, Russia is not the only one to face such problems. According to the calculations of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the impact from COVID-19 will be the worst in the history of tourism: the indicators of the tourism industry around the world by the end of 2020 will decrease by 60-80% compared to 2019. International tourist flows during the current crisis decreased 7.5 times more than under the influence of the most powerful recession in 2008.
According to the Federal Tourism Agency, recently announced by its head Zarina Doguzova, the drop in outbound and inbound tourism will reach 80-85%. If you look at the turnover of the entire tourism industry, then this year the amount will decrease by 60%, from 3.7 trillion (in 2019) to 1.6 trillion rubles. At the same time, the domestic tourist flow should be at least 60% of last year.
According to Rosstat, the income of collective accommodation facilities (hotels, hotels and others) for 9 months of 2020 amounted to 269 billion rubles, or 60% of the indicators of January-September last year (445 billion rubles). The revenues of health resort organizations for 9 months of 2020 amounted to 69 billion rubles, which is 65% of the indicators for the same period last year (105 billion rubles).
The number of citizens, according to the statistics department, accommodated in all Russian hotels for 9 months of this year amounted to 28.2 million people, against 46.5 million in the same period last year (about 61%). Over the same period, foreign citizens were accommodated 2.3 million people, and last year - 7.7 million, that is, the drop was 70%.
Measures of state support for enterprises in the industry, in the opinion of most experts in the rating, turned out to be insignificant, although very much in demand. At the same time, not all organizations were able to use them according to formal criteria: non-compliance with OKVED, requirements for small and medium-sized enterprises. Also, representatives of the tourist business are afraid not to fulfill the requirements for obtaining a "non-repayable" loan, namely, to retain at least 90% of the number of employees until April 1, 2021. In addition, the further spread of restrictions in a number of cities and regions, an increasing debt load, and claims for repayment of loans, according to hoteliers, may lead to bankruptcy and closure of hotels in the first quarter of next year.
With all the negative consequences of restrictions associated with the spread of coronavirus infection, representatives of the travel community note a number of positive changes taking place in the industry.
Perhaps the most discussed and anticipated event of the next year is the launch of a new national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry". It is designed for 2021-2030, and the planned budget should be 629 billion rubles.
In September last year, the Strategy for the Development of Tourism in the Russian Federation until 2035 was adopted. It was approved by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The activities and key indicators of this strategy, which Rosturizm has been engaged in for a long time, migrated to the national project. Apparently, the scale of the goals and objectives set in the strategy led the creators of the document to the idea that it would not be possible to do this within the existing structure and powers of Rostourism, as well as the mechanism of budgetary funds allocated by it. After all, the financing of projects, the quality of their implementation, and human resources must grow exponentially.
Therefore, first, in June 2020, Rostourism was removed from the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and became directly subordinate to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. The activity of the deputy chairman of the government in charge of tourism, his "struggle", even President Vladimir Putin noted at his annual press conference, saying that a separate structure would be created for the development of domestic tourism. “People say: it’s beautiful, but there is no toilet, neither drive nor pass,” the head of state shared his thoughts with journalists. He also cited Turkey and South Korea as an example, where in a few years they have created an excellent infrastructure for recreation.
As it turned out, the tourism corporation will be created on the basis of the North Caucasus Resorts JSC, the North Caucasus Development Corporation JSC and the Visit the Caucasus Foundation. According to the magazine "Otdykh v Rossii" on December 18, JSC "Corporation Tourism was registered. F ". It was headed by Sergey Sukhanov, who was previously vice-president of the Sochi-2014 Organizing Committee for the preparation of Olympic facilities and infrastructure. Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, was the President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee. It has already been announced that the new corporation will participate in large investment projects and will develop master plans for tourism clusters.
It is planned that the new national project, like a nesting doll, will include three federal projects.
First: "Development of tourism infrastructure and creation of quality tourism products." In it, state support measures will include subsidizing the interest rate for the construction of hotels; grant support to public and business initiatives; subsidies to regions for supporting infrastructure and for the formation of tourist-attractive city centers.
