Mountains. At this word, there are majestic peaks, clouds, sun and stunning photographs to be created. Ahead is a long way with a backpack along the mountain trails, with a camera around my neck.
Agree, the last phrase doesn't sound so romantic anymore. The neck may not be able to stand it, and the majesty of the peaks somehow pushes back before the thought of impending fatigue.
So what should a photography enthusiast take on a mountain hike?
The main principle here is to measure your physical capabilities against your photographic ambitions. It is necessary to determine the minimum set of photographic equipment, which, with a low weight, would not greatly limit the choice of subjects for photography.
Camera - any available DSLR. You can use any existing camera, including compact ones, but at present, it is the SLR camera that allows you to work most quickly in difficult conditions, which is associated with the speed of the zoom lens and the presence of an optical viewfinder. The second point is related to the size and quality of the matrix, which directly affects the quality of the images. So far, SLR cameras are ahead of the rest of the options.
Lens - one universal zoom. For example, Canon EF-S 15-85 mm or EF-S 17-85 mm for crop sensor cameras and, say, EF 24-105 for full sensor cameras.
For Nikon cameras I can recommend AF-S 16-85 for crop sensor cameras and AF-S Nikkor 24-120 for full sensor.
Why one? Yes, simply because the strength of one person to carry heavy loads on rough terrain has a certain limit.
Batteries for the camera - 4–5 pcs., depending on the duration of the hike and the possibility of recharging on the way. The recommendation is designed for an autonomous hike lasting 2-3 weeks and 2000-2500 shots, taking into account the fact that at low temperatures the battery life is greatly reduced.
Flash cards - 3-5 pcs. 8-16 GB each, again depending on the duration of trekking and the frequency of pressing the shutter button. Choose the fastest you can afford.
You can use a lot of 2-4 GB cards, but you will have to change them often and, if there are many, it is easier to lose. With 32 GB or 64 GB cards, the situation is the opposite: if the card fails, you risk losing all the pictures at all. Therefore, 8-16 GB is a kind of compromise.
A tripod - take it only if you are sure that you will be shooting with a long exposure - rivers, waterfalls, morning, night, evening. If possible, take a carbon fiber (carbon fiber), the lightest you can find, but at least 1.2–1.4 m high (without the raised central column) and, of course, quite stable. For example, Benro C-068.
Hello dear readers, I am glad to please again with practical and useful advice on how to choose the right camera for travel. Going on vacation, a tourist trip, every vacationer wants to capture these wonderful memories in his memory forever.
Someone gives preference to photographs, someone to video. After all, it is so pleasant to review the most memorable moments and beauties of unexplored cities on video, experienced travelers understand exactly what it is about. But choosing the wrong or fragile video camera can be left without such important memories. Therefore, you need to think in advance whether you need a video camera for travel, which one to choose, how to avoid a fatal mistake when buying. This is what will be discussed in my article.
Let's remember how each of us is going on a long trip. It can be argued that most people try to pack the suitcase as compact as possible without forgetting anything important. The same applies to the choice of a video camera, it should be multifunctional, but at the same time compact. Before heading to a hardware store for a new purchase, we advise you to find out what to look for when choosing a travel camcorder.
During your vacation, absolutely every gram counts, because you want to spend these happy days light, especially with regard to the dimensions of the camera, which should compactly fit in a bag or be in your hands throughout the day. A compact travel camcorder will be an excellent option, because a few extra grams can play a cruel joke during long shooting.
What dimensions should a video camera have:
A portable camcorder that can easily fit in your pocket is a good choice.
I can say with confidence that each of our readers would definitely be glad of the additional protective properties of their camera against moisture, dust, shock. The protection level on the device is often indicated as IP with a two-digit number, for example, IP57. The first digit indicates the level of protection against penetration of various solid objects (earth, sand, cleaning agent) into the video camera, its maximum value is 6. The second digit is the level of moisture protection, this indicator can reach 8.
An IP68 camera with the following parameters will be the best choice for those who like extreme recreation:
For the sake of economy, you can purchase a simpler video camera with a low level of protection; a special waterproof case can act as an additional protective layer. Together with him, any underwater video shooting will go off with a bang. A shock-resistant action camera that can withstand a fall from a height of about 5 meters is definitely suitable for extreme sports. These models have a built-in or supplied protective case.
I read statistics somewhere: three quarters of photographs are born during vacations and travels.
This is not surprising, if a person does not live this hobby, then he has no motives to shoot every day.
Accordingly, the more reason to take the greatest care when choosing a camera for travel.
Fortunately, the addiction that I see on the Internet is encouraging: if the report is from a vacation spent in an Egyptian hotel, then the photos are 99% slag, but when it comes to visiting Tibet or cycling through South America, then the pictures are often no worse than those that can be seen in National Geographic.
The explanation is simple, in Egypt people take a camera in order to take a picture hugging a fake shark, post pictures on classmates, and receive rave reviews.
People do not bother at all how and with what they shoot, and this is absolutely correct. In their lives, there are already enough worries and interests, they do not need to study spells about composition, exponential adjustment and luminosity.
Since I write my notes for people with active lifestyles, I am sure that they often find themselves in interesting places that I want to share with others. I have been interested in photography for a long time, and like many enthusiastic people, I was the owner of a SLR camera.
Over time, I got a park of good optics, a bunch of accessories and a tripod. I tried hard to combine this passion with travel, until I clearly realized that I was not such a fan of photography to carry a bag with a huge camera and three lenses everywhere.
Instead of enjoying the road, my brain automatically reverted to the thought that a great shot had just been missed. This, by the way, is the mistake of many travelers: when planning their way at home, they anticipate how they will shoot the sunrise shots, how artistic the rocks lit by the pink sun will turn out, how they will choose one of four lenses to take the perfect shot.
Friends, this is an illusion that you need to get rid of before you hit the road. If you plan to travel with a company, then most likely you will not have special opportunities to use all four lenses. Companions do not like it when someone hangs at each flower for a long time, trying to get the maximum artistry from it.
