Features of recreation in Bishkek in 2021

Peak Razdelnaya in a group with a guide on fixed dates

Get comfortable in the center

Where: Ala-Too Square, Panfilov Park, Oak Park

Start your acquaintance with Bishkek from the central square of Ala-Too. Colorful flower beds, fountains, a monument to the Kyrgyz hero Manas - don't expect anything special, but if you sit down on a bench, unfold ice cream and gaze at passers-by to your heart's content, you will feel the special local atmosphere and tune in to a leisurely rhythm.

The Historical Museum on Ala-Too Square is now closed for reconstruction, but there are parks nearby, which are especially pleasant on a hot day. Take your child for a ride on the Ferris wheel in Panfilov Park. To wander the alleys in silence, choose the tranquil Oak Park, the oldest in the city.

Enter the mystery of carpets

Where: National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev

If you associate Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia in general with carpets, do not miss the National Museum of Fine Arts in Bishkek. The collection of textiles is not large, but you will see excellent examples of felt shyrdaks and alakiyiz - they cover the floor in yurts, compare woven carpets terme and kajar, and consider the fanciful ornaments on tushkiyiz - wall carpets. Just do not move immediately after this splendor to the bazaar, otherwise leave half of the vacation budget in the carpet rows.

In addition to carpets, the Gaipar Aliyev Museum has a collection of Kyrgyz and Russian paintings and sculptures and often hosts cool exhibitions.

Refresh yourself with maksim

Where: anywhere in Bishkek

In Bishkek, in summer, it can be +40 ° C. In order not to overheat, do as the locals do - walk along the shady sides of the streets, cover your head and refresh yourself with national drinks from time to time. Maksym (or its analogue, arshan) is made from barley, corn and wheat. Tan (or chalap) is a fermented milk drink with salt. Both cereals and milk with sourdough are added to the roast. And then there is kvass, koumiss and ayran! Try everything and, if you like it, grab a bottle or two as a gift to your friends.

What to see in Bishkek and where to go for a day in the vicinity

Razdelnaya Peak (6148 m), located on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the Pamir mountain system. The classic route to Lenin Peak (7134 m.) Passes through this peak, but it takes more time and effort to conquer the seven-thousander, so experienced guides recommend that beginners start from Razdelnaya Peak.

The main challenges faced by novice climbers are altitude, cold temperatures, bad weather and, of course, glacial cracks. Of course, it is best to go on such an ascent under the guidance of a professional guide. You can always join the ascent in a group, for your convenience in 2021 we have opened 4 fixed dates.

Lenin Peak is one of the most popular peaks among novice mountaineers-athletes, and those who want to try their hand at high-altitude mountaineering. Almost always, the implementation of the Snow Leopard program starts from Lenin Peak. He is especially loved by experienced mountain climbers and skiers. Another plus is that you can get to the Base Camp under Lenin Peak by car, and there is an international airport in Osh, so you can fly directly.

The classic ascent route does not have steep rocky and ice sections. And the descent from the top of the seven-thousander on skis does not leave indifferent even the most extreme athlete. But! Do not forget that Lenin Peak is a seven-thousander, and the apparent accessibility of the mountain hides the difficulties and risks associated with the height. A successful ascent requires a responsible approach to the organization of the expedition. To take part in this expedition, you need an appropriate level of physical fitness, basic mountaineering skills, preliminary high-altitude experience and, of course, the desire to reach the summit! The main difficulties faced by mountain climbers who climb Lenin Peak are altitude, low temperatures, periods of bad weather and, of course, glacial cracks.

Kyrgyz hospitality, white "sweets" and dangers awaiting tourists at the Osh market. How the Russian journalist and blogger Maria Petukhova, who visited here for the first time, saw Kyrgyzstan, read in this article.

Russian journalist Maria Petukhova, who for some reason changed money in the Osh market, spoke about the pros and cons of tourism in Kyrgyzstan.

In May-June of this year, I visited Kyrgyzstan for the first time. I love to travel the world, but Europe is terribly tired of me and my friends. In the Old World, everything is predictable, besides, because of the crisis, it is not very easy to go there now. We wanted exotic, unexplored places, a different culture ...

At first we looked at the entire region of Central Asia, but in the end we settled on Kyrgyzstan. There are many wild places with amazing nature, and to make a trip here, you also don't have to spend a lot.

We liked Kyrgyzstan very much, but the tourism business in the republic is in many ways in its infancy. I hope this wonderful country with unique nature will one day become a paradise for tourists.

Plus: airline tickets

Less: Osh market

At the Osh market in Bishkek, our group had probably the most unpleasant adventure of the entire trip. We arrived in the capital of Kyrgyzstan at four in the morning. We slept a little at the hotel and went to the famous Osh bazaar to change money. We entered a large exchange office and left there, of course, with a "cutlet" of catfish. Representatives of the authorities immediately approached us.

One of our Bishkek friends foresaw this situation and gave me advice before leaving: "If policemen come to you in the market, demand that you be taken to the department. There is such a" wiring "in Kyrgyzstan, especially in the markets - some incomprehensible citizens come up, shove an incomprehensible ksivu and say: "Now we will conduct a search. It is then that we must insist on a search in the department, in front of witnesses."

If a foreign tourist is not destined to bypass the Osh market, he must make it civilized. To somehow curb, for example, pickpockets and purse dealers. And the police too, let's face it.

The capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, is a city that uniquely combines traditions and the atmosphere of modernity. A city where you can see a Kyrgyz teahouse and a trendy bar side by side. A city where elderly men in traditional outfits and young ladies in ultra-short mini are walking along the streets quite calmly. Rest in Bishkek is an opportunity to see the sights of the historical center, to feel the spirit of new districts. And all this will be complemented by very reasonable prices.

By the way, Bishkek is translated from Kyrgyz as "stirrer for whipping kumis".
