Dangerous vacation: the most extreme hiking trails

The state of Uzbekistan is located in Central Asia. Mountain systems pass through many countries located in this part of the world: Pamir, Kun-Lun, Tien Shan, Himalayas. But I wonder if there are mountains in Uzbekistan? Let's take a closer look at this topic.

Mountain systems of Uzbekistan

The main part of the republic is located on the plains, but the mountainous terrain occupies a little more than 21% of the entire territory of the country. The height of the ridges is on average from 2 to 3 thousand meters. The Pamir and Tien Shan mountain systems stretch across the country from east to west. The total area of the mountains of Uzbekistan is 96,000 km 2.

There are also low mountains with a height of no more than 500 m, for example Sultan-Uvais, and four-thousanders - peaks covered with eternal snow, located on the Gissar ridge.

According to geological data, the mountains of Uzbekistan are very old. Over millions of years, the rivers flowing from the peaks have formed canyons with picturesque landscapes. The most famous of them are Kulsaysky and Langarsky, as well as Gulkamsky gorges.

Most of the mountains have gentle slopes. Roads pass through the ridges, there are passes connecting different regions of the country.

Highest mountain in Uzbekistan

The highest in the territory of Uzbekistan is the Gissar ridge, which belongs to the Pamir-Alai mountain system. It serves as a watershed between the Amu Darya and Zaravshan. The length of the ridge is up to 200 km.

Hazret-Sultan Peak is the highest in Uzbekistan. Previously, it had a completely different name - the peak named after the XXII Congress of the CPSU. Its height is 4643 m. The peak is located on the Uzbek-Tajik border.

Mountains of Uzbekistan: description, history and interesting facts

The Himalayas are the highest mountain system of the Earth, located at the junction of Central and South Asia, between the Tibetan plateau in the north and the Indo-Gangetic plain in the south. These are the highest and most inaccessible mountains on the planet. The Himalaya mountain system is located in 6 countries: India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.

Hindus consider their location as sacred land. Numerous legends claim that the peaks of the Himalayan mountains were the habitat of the god Shiva, his wife Devi and their daughter Himavata. According to ancient beliefs, the dwelling of the gods gave rise to three great Asian rivers - the Indu, Ganges, Brahmaputra.

The Himalayan mountain system stretches over 2900 km in length and about 350 km in width. The area is about 650 thousand km². The average height of the ridges is about 6 km, the maximum is 8848 m - Mount Everest (Chomolungma).

There are 10 peaks here, the height of which is more than 8000 m above sea level:

  • Chomolungma - 8848 meters
  • Kanchenjunga - 8586
  • Lhotse - 8516
  • Makalu - 8485
  • Cho Oyu - 8201
  • Dhaulagiri - 8167
  • Manaslu - 8156
  • Nangaparbat - 8126
  • Annapurna - 8091 <
  • Shishabangma - 8027

steps of the Himalayas

The Himalayas are heterogeneous in height. The structure of the Himalayan massif is characterized by stepping. There are only three main steps:

  • Pre-Himalayas. Local residents call this part of the massif the Sivalik (Shvalik) ridge. This is the lowest step in the mountain system. It is located south of the rest. It is formed by the youngest, in terms of geology, peaks. Their height is a maximum of 2 thousand meters.
  • Small Himalayas. This step, located parallel to Sivalik, includes such ridges as Dhaoladhar, Pir-Panjal and others. The height of the mountain peaks in the Lesser Himalayas is from 2 to 4 thousand meters.
  • Greater Himalayas. This step of the mountain system includes the most ancient and, accordingly, the highest peaks of the massif (from 4 thousand meters and above). It is located behind the fertile valleys (Kashmir, Kathmandu and several others). These valleys act as a threshold at the entrance to the mountain stone giants.

The mountains of the Himalayas are not only the highest, but also the most diverse. It is in this massif that the greatest differences in heights at short distances were found and recorded. The highest peaks of the world in the Himalayas are adjacent to gorges up to 4-5 kilometers deep.

In the northwest of the western chain of the Himalayas, there is another highest mountain system - the Karakorum.

For most tourists, getting sunburn or being caught in a storm are the most dangerous things to do while on vacation. But there are tourists who, for the sake of extreme pastime, go along the most dangerous routes in order to get their share of adrenaline. Active volcanoes, frozen waterfalls, bridges over an abyss ... All this is a source of unforgettable emotions and impressions.

We present the most extreme tourist routes for your unforgettable vacation.

Rafting, Zimbabwe, Africa

For those tourists who find it not enough to see elephants and tigers in the wild on a safari, Zimbabwe's adventurous people have come up with an extreme and dangerous rafting route. It takes place in the gorge of the famous and beautiful Victoria Falls. Rafting down the steep and dangerous water rapids, you can simultaneously enjoy the incredible beauty of the scenery around.

But do not get too carried away by the beauty of the river, as hundreds of not too kind crocodiles live under the surface of the water. Local guides deftly guide their tourists past all the dangers, but anything can happen ...

Surfing, Maui, Hawaii

The islands of Hawaii have always been considered a paradise for those who like to conquer the waves. Only the most experienced and desperate surfers from around the world flock to the Maui resort to ride the world's biggest waves. This is truly a dangerous and extreme vacation. The height of one such wave reaches an average of 30 meters! So far, no fatalities at the resort, fortunately, have been recorded, as hotel owners warn all new surfers and vacationers about the impending danger.

Death Road, La Paz, Bolivia

Death Road is the most dangerous route in all of Bolivia, located near La Paz. This is an ordinary road, 70 kilometers long, with an asphalt surface, the width of which is only 3 meters. Although, this road is not quite ordinary - it passes right over a huge abyss in the mountains. The greatest danger comes when an oncoming vehicle approaches.

About a hundred people die here every year as a result of cars falling into the abyss. Not everyone, even extreme tourists, dares to take this route.

Mount Huashan, China

China's Huashan Mountain is famous not so much for its incredible views and landscapes as for its dangerous bridge around it. It is a not very stable wooden board, which is about 40 centimeters wide. This structure was erected at the beginning of the 19th century, and since that time has never been modified. This bridge passes at an altitude of 1000 meters. And although all tourists, without exception, are provided with a safety rope for the safe passage of the route, Huashan is considered, perhaps, the most deadly tourist destination on the whole earth.

Peacock Haunted Cave, USA

There are no mountains in the world like the Andes. They keep so many secrets that historians, archaeologists and researchers from various areas will have to find out for many years what happened in this amazing mountainous country. The Andes are famous for their length, beautiful natural world, diverse flora and fauna. The Inca empire once existed here, and now it is one of the most popular and largest tourist areas on the planet.

Where are the Andes

The Andes border the entire continent of South America in the north and west. Their length is almost 9,000 km, which makes the mountain system the longest on the planet, although there is still heated debate about this.

The Andes is a major interoceanic divide and an important climate barrier for South America.

Relief and age of the Andes

The Andes refers to the revived mountains that arose as a result of the rise. The years of their formation fell on the Paleozoic. And the very birth of the Andes is attributed to the Jurassic period. Some massifs of the mountain system belong to the Cretaceous period, in particular, this concerns the Main and Coastal Cordilleras. Troughs in intermontane areas and along the edges were formed during the Paleogene and Neogene.

The awe-inspiring relief of the Andes

The Andes are seismically active mountains located in the subduction zone. Thus, mountain building continues even today.

Mineral resources of the mountain system

The natural wealth of the Andes allows the extraction of vanadium, tin, lead, antimony, zinc and other metals. On the territories of Chile there are copper deposits, and in the areas of the foothill troughs - oil and gas. The latter are especially important for Venezuela, the Andes are also rich in iron, ores are located in Bolivia. Colombia mines precious metals and emeralds in the mountains.

Highest point of the mountains

It's hard to find people who don't like to travel. Even the most inveterate couch potato will agree that lying on the seaside is no worse than lying on your own couch. But travel is not only Turkey or our south, but these are the most favorite (or affordable?) Destinations of Russian tourists. There are many other, much more interesting places in the world. Most of them are visited by people for whom tourism is a lifestyle.

Avid travelers tend to be very curious. If you can't go on a trip yet, you can plan your next vacation and learn something new about tourism.

This article will focus on the most interesting facts about travel and travelers. Perhaps this information will be not only interesting for you, but also useful.

Russians ranked ninth in the rating of the most active travelers

In the summer of 2019, a ranking of countries was compiled by the number of travelers traveling abroad. The payment system "MasterCard" was taken as a basis. The analysis was carried out on two indicators: the total number of travelers in the country and the amount of money spent by them. The first place was taken by the USA, the second - by China, the third - by Germany, Russia - in the ninth place.

Apparently, our compatriots are not active tourists and do not travel abroad very often. Although in our country there is also something to see. You don't have to travel far to get a good rest. The most popular countries among Russian travelers are Turkey, Thailand, Tunisia.

A large influx of tourists to holiday destinations is harmful to the environment

Many countries are competing for the right to receive as many tourists as possible. Of course, this is beneficial for the state and the local population, but in the race for profit, one should not forget about the environment.

A large influx of tourists causes great harm to the environment. Even disregarding garbage, greenhouse gases are inevitable. According to statistics, about 8% of them are thrown away by transport (long-distance destinations), hotels and other establishments that provide services to guests from other cities and countries. This indicator is increasing annually.

Countries where the most active travelers live are the leaders in environmental issues. They were already mentioned above, these are the USA, China and Germany. Their inhabitants not only travel with pleasure, but also attract tourists from other countries.

Interesting fact: Russia is no exception. Baikal suffered, which is very popular with tourists. The ecosystem of the area is under threat: eagles have stopped nesting, and two species of lichen have disappeared.
