This event is widely celebrated in more than thirty countries of the world, in particular, in the Russian Federation.

When is it celebrated?

The official date of the celebration is September 27th. On the same date, in 1987, the Charter of the International Tourism Organization was approved.

This date was chosen for a reason - it is during this period that the tourist season in the Northern Hemisphere is coming to an end and is just beginning in the Southern Hemisphere.

Historical background

The holiday was established by the commission of the World Tourism Organization in 1979. In Russia, the event turned into an event later - in 1983. Hello everyone! I would like to publish an article in advance about this wonderful holiday so that you, dear readers, know about it in advance and have time to prepare to congratulate everyone who is involved in this holiday.

In 1979, a significant event took place in the small Spanish town of Torremolinos - the World Tourism Day was approved. Its main goal was the development of international relations between different peoples, the promotion of tourism and recreation, the development of the economic sphere of states. In Russia, this holiday has been celebrated since 1983.

Every year in many countries these days there are gatherings of tourists, various festivals and celebrations. And in 2003, at the junction of the end of the tourist season in the Northern and the beginning of the Southern Hemisphere, the high right to presidency was granted to the Russian Federation.

Currently, many different employees are involved in the tourism sector, and for many countries tourism is almost the only budget replenishment item, which in terms of its potential is only slightly inferior to oil production. This year, as always, World Tourism Day will be celebrated on 27 September.

Interesting fact! The world's first travel agency was opened in 1841 by Briton Thomas Cook.

History of tourism

There are usually four stages in the development of a tourist destination:

  • From ancient times to the beginning of the 19th century. Prehistory of tourism.
  • The beginning of the 19th century - the 20th century. The emergence of tourism services and elite tourism.
  • The beginning of the 20th century - before the Second World War. Formation of social tourism.
  • After World War II and until today. Mass tourism, full-fledged formation of the tourism industry as an independent intersectoral direction.

Let's consider each of them in more detail, because World Tourism Day is just around the corner.

Tourism Background

Even before our era, many peoples of the Mediterranean had detailed geographical descriptions of neighboring territories. They needed them for the development of trade, pilgrimage, treatment, enlightenment and education. The Phoenicians were especially successful in this, on their large and durable ships they went to the open sea and laid routes along the African and Western European coasts. This greatly helped them to strengthen trade and good-neighborly relations with neighboring peoples.

The celebration begins with a general formation on the sports ground. After a small ceremonial part, the teams of the formed groups of different ages leave on their routes, having received maps indicating the route of movement and the time of arrival at the competition clearing. Each group moves along its own route.

Conducted in the form of an obstacle course in the task clearing. Each group is represented by a team of 6 people: - 4 boys (boys) and 2 girls (girls). Before the start, the teams receive route sheets, in which the judges at each stage make notes about the results of the team's work and the time of passing the stage.

  • Linking nodes.
  • Determination of the azimuth on the subject and on the map.
  • Definition and drawing of topographic signs.
  • Crossing the parallel ropes.
  • Determination of the distance to an inaccessible object and the distance on the map.
  • Descent down the slope.
  • Ascent up the slope.
  • Crossing a log across a river or ravine.

A total control time (GCT) is given for the passage of the entire relay. The passage of each stage by the team is also limited by the control time (TC). If the CV is exceeded at this stage, the team stops working and goes further along the route. In case of exceeding the OKV, the team moves to the end of the standings for this type of competition.

The result is determined by the sum of the time the team passes the distance and the penalty time received at the stages.

Each group puts up a team of 4 people for this type of competition: 2 girls (girls) and 2 boys (boys).

The course consists of four stages. The entire distance is limited by the OKW.

Before the start, each team is given a map of the area with the control points (CP) of the first stage indicated on it and the location of the key for passing the second stage. The number of these keys is limited, therefore, at the end of the first stage, several teams are eliminated from the competition and move to the finish line. Their places are determined by the shortest time for completing the first stage and the amount of points received for the KPs found.

After completing the second stage, several more teams are eliminated that did not take the key to the third stage. These teams also move to the finish line. Their places are distributed according to the time of completing two stages, the sum of points received for the found KPs of two stages and points for the taken key.

Two teams advance to the third stage. One of them after this stage is eliminated and moves to the finish line. Its place is determined by the time it takes to complete the three stages, the sum of points received for the found KP of the three stages, and points for the keys taken in the second and third stages.

One team goes to the last - fourth - stage, which is trying to find the treasure. She becomes the winner. Its result is determined by the number of points for the found KPs of all stages, points for the keys taken in the second, third and fourth stages and for the treasure found.

Date in 2021: September 27, Monday.

At the end of September, it's time to celebrate the Day of the Tourist. The International Tourism Organization holds a festival, makes reports, congratulates everyone involved in this area. There are competitions for startups in the field of tourism. Ordinary people celebrate the holiday by traveling, visiting places where they have never been - even in their own city. Today tourism plays an important role in the economies of many countries, making a significant contribution to GDP. It has become more organized, but still enjoyable.

When is it? September 27th. There is no additional state day off. However, the management of tourist and excursion bureaus may provide employees with a day off to celebrate the holiday at their discretion. When was it established? The law on the introduction of a new memorable date in the calendar was adopted in 1979 at a regular conference of the World Tourism Organization. It is widely celebrated in Russia and the CIS countries. Travel lovers hold rallies and forums, exchange impressions of their trips. Meetings of regional and federal tourist societies are being held. Many museums and tour desks offer free services to visitors on 27 September.

World Tourism Day 2019 and 2020 falls on September 27 (however, as always, this date is not rolling). The international holiday has a long and interesting history. The main tourist event is always bright and interesting. It is no coincidence that the motto of experienced travelers says: "The time spent on the road is not counted in the years lived." September 27 is an excellent occasion to visit interesting exhibitions and other events to get acquainted with the main hobby of a modern person.

When celebrated

Since the founding of the memorable date, it was decided to celebrate it on September 27th. At this time, the travel season in the northern hemisphere ends, and in the south, on the contrary, it is about to begin. In most Russian cities, the first month of autumn is considered the best period for vacations and outdoor activities with trips to other cities.

Who should be congratulated

At this time, when the sun is still shining like summer, and nothing portends the imminent arrival of winter, congratulations should be received:

  • employees and managers of travel companies and excursion bureaus;
  • tourism managers working in private agencies;
  • lovers of outdoor activities and travel to other cities (countries);
  • fans of extreme tourism.

Almost every Russian city has a hobby club where travel enthusiasts actively exchange experiences. Such organizations usually prepare the holiday program on their own and actively involve young people in it.

This is interesting! Recently, among fans of extreme trips, tourist trips on off-road vehicles deep into abandoned villages have become very popular. Such travel is similar in content to ecological tourism.
