We have long been accustomed to looking for information on the Internet. We rarely visit libraries. Do we and our children need libraries? Is it worth enrolling a child in the library if everything you need can be found on the Internet, and what will the library give a child?
First of all, the library contains a lot of exclusive information (usually it concerns large libraries). For example, the latest information from recently published sources that have not yet appeared on the Internet or, on the contrary, old and rare publications, priceless archives that cannot be found on the Internet.
When it comes to schoolchildren, they can find here information that is not always available on the Internet. After all, you usually need to use certain literature of specific authors, which are not always posted on the network. You can also find here old magazines that are not posted on the Internet (and often there are many interesting publications, master classes and other materials).
In addition, the library often hosts various events that help to learn more about writers, culture, and science. Various contests and quizzes, games that help broaden the horizons are also often held. It is very useful for school children, preschoolers and adults.
First of all, the child learns to love books. Especially, this applies to those children who do not like to read (and there are a lot of such children now). It is the library that helps to examine the books, choose the one that you like the most, talk to the librarian, who will subtly tell you which book will be interesting to read. That is, the selection process itself will already bring pleasure, which means that the child will want to read the book that he has chosen himself.
In addition, since books are given for a specific time, the child learns responsibility. The books must be returned on time. Books cannot be torn and spoiled, this teaches us to take care of things. To choose a book, you need to focus. That is, accuracy, attentiveness, the ability to concentrate and responsibility - all this can be taught by the library.
If desired, the child can take the book home again and re-read it. A visit to the library will help the child decide which genre is preferable, which author he likes, and which book he would like to have at home.
And in general, the library and reading books not only helps to satisfy curiosity and information hunger, but to grow and develop spiritually and intellectually. It is also very useful for the child to be distracted from the TV, phone and computer. The library will also help with this.
The current model libraries are real intellectual and educational centers.
This happens within the framework of the national project "Culture". In 2019, according to reports from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, 134 libraries in 44 Russian regions were modernized. In 2020, it is planned to modernize another 110 municipal libraries from 52 regions. The national project assumes that 660 municipal libraries will be completely changed by 2024
According to the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Yarilova, in 2020 only in the republics of Khakassia, Tyva, Altai and Krasnoyarsk territories, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk and Omsk regions it is planned to re-equip 11 libraries according to the model standard.
What image is born with the word "library"? Long shelves of books (which sometimes they do not take in their hands for years), a half-empty room, where God forbid accidentally make a loud sound - the librarian will attack with reproaches. This image is becoming a thing of the past. The current model libraries are real intellectual and educational centers, the space in which is organized not only comfortably, but also taking into account the requirements of modern design. Here, both paper books are issued and provide readers with access to the latest information technologies.
Of course, for the regions (and especially for small towns or villages, which in the past decade could not boast of regular and full-fledged replenishment of the funds of their book depositories, and indeed they could not boast of anything) the opening of each such library is a holiday ... By the way, the opening of the Moscow library of the Afanasyevsky district of the Kirov region, which became the first model library in the region, which was refurbished within the framework of the national project "Culture", was timed to coincide with the Librarian's Day. This library in the village of Moskovskaya is a unique institution. Firstly, here they not only give books to read, but also lead an active local history activity. And in a fun way. No boring reports and dusty shop windows, a love of reading and a small homeland, local children are instilled through entertaining quests, historical cruises (yes, even in the area, but - cruises!), Bright presentations.
Secondly, there is a library in the building of the local Permian Komi Culture Center. So everything spoke in favor of transforming an ordinary library into a cultural center. The changes made it possible to expand the collection of documents and information resources, preserve the culture and national identity of the Permian Komi people, and continue creating a database on the ethnic culture of the peoples of Vyatka.
And even though the opening took place in a virtual format (there was a strict quarantine in the region at that time), all the participants did not hide their emotions. “We sincerely congratulate everyone on the wonderful Librarian Day. We really want you to share the joy that overwhelms us today. An amazing discovery - virtual - I think it will be a historical event for the library. This is the first library of a new generation on the territory of the Kirov region, ”said Tatyana Mazur, Minister of Culture of the Kirov region, in his welcoming speech.
And at the end of June, the first visitors were received by another modernized library: Bezbozhnikovskaya rural library of the Murashinsky district, which is located in the forest edge in the north of the Kirov region. The choice on this library also fell not by chance: in June, the book depository celebrated its 60th anniversary.
Libraries are more often associated with dusty monographs and long sittings over a diploma than with children's games and fun activities. Nadezhda Erikhman, director of the Central City Children's Library named after V.I. A.P. Gaidara, told how to make it such a place where children would like to come.
The library today is a free space for children, where they themselves choose what to do. They can come and play, come and read, or they can just talk with their peers or with the librarian.
There can be no deathly silence in children's libraries, because children are not ready to keep pace. They come to us because they are welcome here. Board games are played here; on the basis of some libraries there are real game libraries. The very little ones also come to play. So far, there is no dedicated space for them in the Central City Children's Library, but we plan to open it, as we want to work more with the audience of children from one year to another.
Technically, you can enroll in the library from birth. Last year we had such cases
It happens that a mother comes with older children and at the same time records the baby. The library is also interesting for high school students if a special space has been created for them. They will never come to the library, if they have to sit next to preschoolers, they will be uncomfortable. But if the library exhibits actual books for teenagers, interacts with them, then they will come.
In school libraries, there is mostly only educational literature. Although there are specially designed libraries in New Moscow, where the situation is much better. Nowadays, more and more projects appear that connect us with schools. Each library builds all programs on the basis of cooperation with local educational institutions, work is underway with all classes. Introduce literature, try to instill a love of reading.
Usually these are events tailored to the specific topic that the class takes place in the school. The teacher turns to the library if he needs help, and we, for our part, already offer him options. If Bazhov's books pass, we can invite a geologist who will show the real minerals from his books. Children come to these events after school hours, for example, on an extended day.
It all depends on the parents - what message they give. In terms of the number of children in the library and the turnover of books, it is imperceptible that the number of readers has decreased in recent years. A summer reading program is currently underway in Gaidarovka. You can start a special diary and tell about the books you read, and get a gift for that. At the end of one month, we had two and a half thousand reading diaries.
12 unusual libraries from around the world
Today, young children spend a lot of time watching TV and at the computer. But they read very little. Meanwhile, the importance of reading is proved by the following points:
Only by learning to read well and carefully, the child will be able to navigate in life. The intelligence of a child reading books is higher than that of his peer, who sits all his free time at the computer and TV.
Still not knowing the letters, the baby, listening to what his mother reads to him, gets positive emotions from what he read. He wants to learn the letters faster, so that later he can put them into words on his own. Learning to read on images is faster, stimulates the development of mental processes.
A book for a child is an opportunity to plunge into the world of fantasy, go along with the hero through all the adventures. This is the way of knowing life.
Children's literature in a library of any level is widely represented: many interesting and understandable books for children of different ages, familiar names of writers and poets, favorite genres. A child who loves books can always easily find a fascinating and interesting edition.
Many children will gladly re-read long-forgotten fairy tales
Parents and librarians will help the child to understand the variety of children's literature. They will advise the child both classical and modern literature, which is valuable in terms of personality formation, one that teaches us to learn about life by examples. The library catalog contains many such works.
Any child reads himself with pleasure what his mother read to him for the night: Pushkin's fairy tales, Nekrasov and Yesenin's poems, Tolstoy's stories, etc. The works of Soviet authors such as Barto, Marshak, Nosov and foreign authors (Lindgren, Alan Milne, Lewis Carroll, and others) also became classics. It is eternal, and more than one generation of children will be brought up on these images and pictures.
When was the last time you visited the library? If it was a long time ago, then you have lost a lot. Surely your city has already opened an updated library within the framework of the national project "Culture". Be sure to visit it - new experiences are guaranteed to you.
It used to be in the library, in fact, one option - the ability to take a book home or read it in the quiet of the reading room. Today, teleconferences are held here, music is recorded in specially equipped recording studios, computer literacy courses are organized for the older generation, and creative and scientific laboratories for young people. Here you can try on a virtual reality helmet, use a 3D printer, and communicate with a robot. And, of course, get the books you want. Both in paper and electronic form.
The demand for model libraries is evidenced by the fact that this year, despite the coronavirus reality, a record number of modern reading rooms will open in Russia. By the end of the year, within the framework of the national project "Culture", instead of the planned 110 modern book palaces, 172 will open. Of these, 98 libraries have already been re-equipped by now, and another 74 will open their doors before the New Year.
And if the theater begins with a hanger, then many model libraries - from automated storage rooms. It is enough to attach a plastic card, or a single library card, to unblock or block the storage cell. In particular, such a service at the entrance will meet you in the Lipetsk model library. PP Semenov-Tyan-Shanskiy, opened in mid-October. In the foyer of this library, visitors are greeted by a large touch panel with announcements of events that will take place in the coming hours and days. “Only in the first week of the renovated library's work, we had three meetings of the Around the World club,” says the head of the library, Elena Solovtsova. - Our library bears the name of the famous Russian traveler and geographer, so we are actively developing the topic of travel. We also have a club "Science PRO". One of the last lectures was devoted to the topic “How to live environmentally”. For the convenience of visitors, on Wednesday we extended the library's opening hours to 21 hours. Now you can visit us after work. "
Elena Leonidovna draws attention to the fact that their library has a self-service station where you can write a book on your library card without the help of an employee, and issue an extension. The books themselves are in the public domain on the shelves. The design of the shelves is original: they have built-in seats with soft cushions, you can very comfortably sit down for reading a book or working with a laptop. “We have been jokingly asked the question more than once: 'Is it possible to stay with you? It's so cozy here, "says Elena Solovtsova. “We also have a cafe where you can have a snack and read the latest press along the way.”
In Lipetsk in October, thanks to the Kultura national project, two model libraries were opened at once. The second is dedicated to military-patriotic themes and bears the name of the famous pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union Mikhail Vodopyanov. The interior is appropriate: lamps in the form of airplanes, racks-fuselages with portholes and model airplanes. Many interesting details remind of the main theme of this library - aviation. A graffiti depicting the pilot himself now adorns the building's facade
One of the Lipetsk brands is the Aviation Center - an advanced air and space force that solves the most important tasks. Thanks to the national project "Culture", an information center has appeared in the city, which will accumulate all information on the history of aviation in Lipetsk and the history of the Lipetsk aviation center. The updated library will become not only a reading room, but also a place for social adaptation of retired military pilots. They will be able to communicate and transfer the accumulated knowledge and experience of young people. There will also be a career guidance center for teenagers planning to connect their lives with aviation.
