The topic of Chinese tourists has been one of the most discussed among Irkutsk residents for many years. However, over time, the story does not lose its sharpness. Participants in the tourism market again gathered at a thematic round table to discuss whether the region needs to be protected from the Chinese.

For the first nine months of this year, the Irkutsk region was visited by 326 thousand foreigners, most of whom are tourists from China. Anastasia Zinyuk, deputy head of the department for analysis and forecasting of hotel and tourist activities of the regional tourism agency, reported these figures at a meeting of the "Expert Club".

Every year there are more Asian tourists, this trend was noted in September by representatives of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to IRK Reader Poll. u, 68.7% of 1,148 who voted negatively refer to the growth in the number of guests from the Middle Kingdom in the Irkutsk region.

The border guards also note an increase in the number of Chinese. The head of the Baikal checkpoint Dmitry Loskutov told IRK. u that under an agreement with China, tourist groups from 5 to 50 people travel to Russia within the framework of a visa-free regime. On the territory of the Russian Federation, they can stay for up to 15 days.
