In 1723, Peter I decided to rebuild an iron factory in the Iset valley, at the same time a dam appeared in these places, which laid the foundation for the city. It is a unique engineering structure with a low but wide embankment. The basis is made up of rare Ural larch and granite.

Now the dam has turned into a bridge connecting the city pond and the river, a pedestrian crossing dedicated to Viktor Tsoi has been dug under it, and the upper part has been transformed into a square with a panoramic view of the embankment and the Historical Square. "Plotinka" is considered a favorite place of the townspeople, festive festivities and concerts are held here, in summer every evening the show of musical fountains is turned on, you can ride a horse, boat or catamaran.

The building of Yekaterinburg's landmark appeared on the Dam of the City Pond in the early 1890s to meet the needs of railway workshops, but the tower did not serve its direct purpose for long. In the post-war years, the premises were given for residential apartments, and later - for a store.

In 2018, historical justice prevailed and the tower underwent reconstruction. Now it houses a museum, a visitor center, as well as a souvenir shop and a cafe. The excursion allows tourists to learn about the history of Plotinka and the origin of the city. And from a height from the window of the building you can admire the historical part of the capital of the Urals.

The Red Line is a pedestrian tourist route through the historical center of Yekaterinburg. Its length is about six and a half kilometers. The attractions included in the itinerary were determined by voting. The idea of ​​the route was actively discussed on the Internet, almost 11 thousand people took part in its discussion and development, the route is marked with red paint on the sidewalks of the central part of the city, the points of view of the sights are marked with numbering.

Museum of the History of Stone Cutting and Jewelry Art

The idea of ​​creating a museum related to the history of stone-cutting in the Urals arose at the end of the 19th century in the Ural Society of Natural Science Lovers. The famous artist A. Denisov-Uralsky, offering as a gift to the future museum a rich collection of minerals, original jewelry, paintings and valuable material related to the history of the study of the Urals.

The Museum of the History of Stone Cutting and Jewelry Art is the only state museum of this profile in Russia.

Sverdlovsk State Academic Philharmonic

The Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Society opened its first season on September 29, 1936. The Philharmonic building is an architectural monument with more than a century of history.

Sergey Lemeshev, Ivan Kozlovsky, Leonid Utesov, Vladimir Mayakovsky once performed here. Today, the Philharmonic's poster contains the names of those who define the standard of the world performing arts. Its guests are Vladimir Spivakov, Mikhail Pletnev, Yuri Bashmet, Denis Matsuev, Vadim Repin, Sergey Krylov, Dmitry Hvorostovsky and many other outstanding musicians.

Photographic Museum "Metenkov's House"

The photographic museum "Metenkov's House" is one of the few in Russia and the only museum of photography in the Urals. It is located in a building that belonged to one of the best photographers of old Yekaterinburg, Veniamin Metenkov, at the turn of the 20th century.
