Description of the excursion

I will not bore you with numerous dates and surnames. My story is a story about the sights of Vienna and about the crowns in the context of history.

We will take a walk through the city and take a trip in time, using examples of historical buildings, streets, parks and museums, we will look into the secret corners of old Vienna. Let's sit over a cup of aromatic coffee with strudel in a Viennese cafe.

  • Ringstrasse. Our path will pass along the "front showcase" of the capital - Ringstra? E, which in German means "ring street" - this is one of the widest and longest streets in Vienna.
  • Attraction architecture. The famous buildings of the Ring - the Town Hall, Parliament, University, Stock Exchange - were created at the same time, but in different styles. So the building of the Town Hall, like all town halls of the Middle Ages, was built in the Flemish Gothic style. Parliament - in the Greek style, as if pointing to the origin of the foundations of politics and statehood. Neo-Renaissance is visible in the construction of the Vienna Opera and the University; in the building of the Burgtheater - neo-baroque; in the architecture of the Stock Exchange, Votivkirche, the Museum of Applied Arts - neo-Gothic. The Natural History Museum and the Art History Museum are built in the neo-Renaissance style. All these buildings are different, but surprisingly harmoniously combined and together create a unique Ringstrasse ensemble.
  • Medieval Vienna. Then we will go to the medieval part of Vienna, the so-called Inner City. On Freyung Square we will take a look at the Down Kinski Palace and the Ferstel Palace. We will visit the Hofburg and Stephansdom, walk along the most expensive shopping street Kolmarkt, on the Graben street we will admire the Plague Column. See the house of Mozart and the Old Vienna University, with a stunning cathedral; Vienna's oldest cathedral is the Rupertkirche; Am Hof square and many beautiful palaces.
  • The destination of our trip is St. Stephen's Cathedral.

Nature, climate and weather

Austria is located in a temperate climate zone. In the east of the country, the continental influence prevails - little rain, hot summers, moderately cold winters. The Alps have a lot of snow, short summers and long winters. The rest of the country is a transitional climate influenced by the Atlantic (in the west) and continental influences in the southeast.

Central European fauna with deer, rabbits, pheasants, foxes, badgers, martens, partridges prevails in Austria.

Austria is one of the most forested countries in Europe. Alpine flora is especially colorful: edelweiss, gentian, alpine carnation, arnica, alpine rose, heather grow here.
