Yaroslavl is a city in Central Russia, the administrative center of the Yaroslavl region. Located north of Moscow, it is recognized as the "capital" of the Golden Ring of Russia. The city is rich in monuments of history and architecture, the "Russian spirit" reigns in it to this day. Let's learn more about what Yaroslavl is like, what river flows in the city, and what the region's water resources are.

The region's water resources include over 4000 water bodies. This includes the rivers of the Yaroslavl region, lakes, ponds, swamps. Despite the fact that the map of the rivers of the Yaroslavl region has so many names, most of them are small rivers, and even streams.

The sources of most water streams are located on a hill (up to 300 meters above sea level). In the valleys, the current is calm, predominantly flat. The average flow velocity is 0.5 m/s. The rivers are fed mainly by snow and rain, which is why floods are observed in the valleys in early spring. Many rivers of Yaroslavl and regions dry up partially or completely during the summer low-water period, and in winter they freeze almost to the bottom.

Every year the rivers in the Yaroslavl region suffer from sewage pollution (up to 300 million cubic meters annually). The main source of pollution of the water area is considered to be industrial enterprises, the housing and communal services sector, and thermal power plants. Also, oil products contribute to the deterioration of the ecological situation and a decrease in the number of flora and fauna. The most distressing part of the Volga is between Yaroslavl and the Rybinsk reservoir.

On which river is Yaroslavl

The physical map of the Yaroslavl region is penetrated along and across by blue lines, denoting waterways. One of them is clearly distinguished by the size and location on the shores of large settlements.

Many visitors to the main city of the Golden Ring of Russia ask themselves the question: on which river is the city of Yaroslavl? The main waterway of Yaroslavl is the Volga; it was its embankment that played an important role in the trade and economic affairs of the settlement several centuries ago. There were trading rows, fishing was carried out, barges loaded with goods moored and sailed away, artisans worked.

Today in the center of Yaroslavl on the Volga River there is a popular place among tourists - Strelka. Here the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosl rivers takes place. It is believed that this particular place is the founding point of Yaroslavl. Today the embankment of the river is a favorite walking place for visitors and local residents. There are cafes, shops, pedestrian and bicycle paths there.

Speaking about which river Yaroslavl stands on, one cannot fail to mention Kotorosl. In economic and economic terms, it is not so important, although it is the second largest river in Yaroslavl. But on its banks, one after another, were lined up ancient temples, to admire which hundreds of guests come to Yaroslavl.

Another reason why tourists visit Yaroslavl is the Volga River, which pleases with a generous catch. There are paid bases in the city, where there is everything you need for a comfortable stay: equipped houses for the night, gazebos, barbecues, baths.

Nora is another answer to the question of what river flows in Yaroslavl. It flows in the northern part of the city and flows into the Gorky reservoir. Nora is a kind of dump for oil and other industrial waste. The channel is practically not cleaned and poses a potential threat to the residents of Yaroslavl - if safety measures are not taken, the city will be left without clean drinking water.

Kavardakovsky (Zelentsovsky brook) - flows in Yaroslavl, flows into Kotorosl in Krasnoperekopsky district. In ancient times, the stream was a place for celebrations and pagan Kupala rituals. Currently, the channel is half dry.

Waterways of Yaroslavl and regions on the world map

The summer tourist season in Yaroslavl is over. How successful was it for our city, did it bring the expected profit to the budget? What hinders the development of the local tourism industry, and will guests come to us in winter? This is our conversation with Andrey Danilov, chairman of the Public Council for Tourism of the Yaroslavl Region.

Is it worse with us?

Olga Savicheva, "AiF-Yaroslavl": Andrey Yurievich, what, in your opinion, are the preliminary results of the tourist season for Yaroslavl and the region?

And during the November holidays, many guests will definitely come to us. I myself am a practicing guide, and all the days of the holidays have already been scheduled for a month.

As for my vision, on the one hand, there has been a redistribution of tourist flows from overseas holidays to Russia. For example, until last year Muscovites loved to go to Turkey, Hungary and other countries for weekends. Now such opportunities have diminished due to the "sagging" of the ruble in relation to the bi-currency basket. Therefore, they examine the nearest surroundings and are surprised to learn that it turns out that ours is no worse.

On the other hand, while the average standard of living, the population's ability to pay has decreased, and the total number of travelers has decreased. People try not to waste money on immutable needs.

Fewer people began to stop for the night, because this is additional spending, and there are more "one-day" people. The number of cruise ships increased this year, foreigners from Europe began to visit us more, for the reason that our country is now inexpensive. And, of course, the Chinese - there are more and more of them. We are trying to prepare students for their admission and hope that from next year we will start teaching the Chinese language at our faculty.

New tourist sites appear in Yaroslavl, and this is also a big plus. So, last year, the first signs of tourist navigation were installed, this year they will deliver seven more - Yaroslavl is being decorated, and information on the terrain of tourists is increasing.

Correctly "pack"

- There are many cities with less history than Yaroslavl, and they are known almost all over the world. Why so few tourists visit Yaroslavl?

Yaroslavl is a city in Central Russia, on which river is the city, small rivers of Yaroslavl on the map. Rivers and reservoirs of the Yaroslavl region number over 4000
