Our route begins in the lower reaches of the picturesque river Grivda and further with an exit to the middle reaches of the Shchara - the river polonaise of Belarus. The Grivda and Shchara rivers are part of the Neman-Baltic water basin. Floodplains in the basins of the Grivda and Shchara rivers create excellent natural conditions for the nesting of numerous bird colonies and, in particular, graceful and stately, loyal to each other, swan families.
Grivda and Shchara are truly wonderful places in Belarus, falling into which we find ourselves in a real swan kingdom, in the waters of their mutual love, tenderness and fidelity. Our route provides an excellent opportunity to experience such feelings for a water traveler.
The route is ideal for those who like active, but at the same time unhurried and measured rest, of all age categories. For its passage, mature and young parents may well take with them not only adolescents, but also young children. All participants of the hike will fully enjoy the river flora and fauna, coastal beauties and rural life of the coastal Belarusian villages, as well as the leisurely, measured movement along the route.
This route is ideal for both beginner adult rowing tourists and schoolchildren from 11 years old who first get into a kayak and try to join water trips. Therefore, both mixed and purely children's groups can go on this route. Comparatively short distances from one lodging place to another will allow you to maximally distract and rest from the hustle and bustle of modern city life. In addition, the route contains spiritual and cultural, educational, historical and local lore potential. Since it acquaints the water traveler with the history of the Ivatsevichi and Slonim regions, rich in events of different times, and also gives the opportunity to touch the holy places and architectural monuments of Christian Orthodox, Catholic and Islamic spirituality. Fidget tourists, curious aesthetes, novice rowers, both adults and children - this is the route for you.
Meeting of the group with the instructor at the station square in Ivatsevichi. Moving to the beginning of the route by road from the station square of the city of Ivatsevichi to its northeastern outskirts, to the right bank of the Grivda River. We leave the street named after Tolochko and find ourselves on the coastal meadow of Grivden. Here, from a small hydraulic structure, from the low right bank of the Grivda River, our route begins.
We'll pack up by 11:00 and go out on the water. The route runs along the picturesque part of the Grivda River. The river originates in the Slonim region near the village of Voronichi, Grodno region. At the village of the same name, the Grivda river passes into its middle course, and its channel becomes wider and more suitable for kayaking. In its middle course, the Grivda River is very meandering. In some places the river bed narrows, like the neck of a bottle, then, expanding, turns into cozy, rounded river lakes.
Reedy river banks, small creeks, branches and swampy, inaccessible approaches to the river, as well as numerous irrigation canals create excellent natural conditions for nesting graceful swan families. Having mastered these virgin coastal places and the Grivda river bed, the swans have laid their own paths here, on which they feel great in a favorable environment for them, outside the presence of man and his interference in their natural swan kingdom. Having a good photo optics with you, you can, if you're lucky, without any problems at a sufficient distance to capture the graceful gliding of the faithful swan family in full on the water surface.
