A lot of unusual and alluring lies in the waterways of Russia. The river Vetluga is famous for its special beauty, stretching across the territory of the Kostroma and Nizhny Novgorod regions. The river is directly related to the Volga, being its right tributary. The length of Vetluga is 900 km, and the area is 40,500 sq. ...
The river captures the territory of the Kirov, Kostroma regions, and also passes through the Republic of Mari El.
On the Internet you can find articles, personal observations, entrance to the river, the beginning of the journey, described by lovers of recreation in protected places. Travelers tell a lot about Vetluga. For example, the channel is winding, often changing the direction of movement, this gives rise to many oxbow lakes, which form lakes everywhere, especially in the region of the Kirov region. Speaking about the settlements located along the river bed in the Kirov and Kostroma regions, it is worth noting that mainly numerous forests grow around it. Moreover, the forests are dense, as described by historical materials about the village of Vetluzhsky and its lands. In the northeastern part of the city of Kostroma is the city of Sharya, it is surrounded by forests stretching to the banks of the river. Vetluga. This place is interesting as a small regional center, which is also a railway point on the road to Galich. It is famous as a center for wood processing, and at the same time many mentions are associated with it in Soviet times, because of the factories and plants operating here. Also in such towns, you can see unusual museums, the remains of temples and sculptural compositions. It is good, at the stage of planning such a rafting on the river, ask your friends to meet at a prearranged site.
If we consider other settlements, then the city of Vetluga (Nizhny Novgorod region) is located on the Vetluga river.
Having studied the direction of the Vetluga River with the help of a map, we see that to the place where it flows into the Volga it passes near the city of Kozmodemyansk. Travel lovers can make a raft by taking care of obtaining prior permission from the company that oversees this type of tourism. Every year a lot of tourists go on an entertaining tour.
In the Kirov lands, the Vetluga is represented by its upper reaches. The source of the Vetluga river is the confluence of the Bolshaya Bystraya and Bystra rivers, a settlement located in these parts of the village of Bystri (Shabalinsky district). But according to some sources, the real source of Vetluga was the confluence of the Bystraya and Matyuga rivers, it is located not far from the ancient village of Kruglyzh. The places where the Vetluga river begins are unusually picturesque, as can be judged by looking at the multiple photographs of the Matyug and Bystraya rivers. The very place of the confluence of these two rivers is marked with a memorial stone. In the Kirov region there are not only the sources of the Vetluga river, but also springs.
This region is famous thanks to the Kruglyzhskaya church, which was located here until the 1930s. Most often it is called the Church of the Sign. The parish consisted of 97 settlements. The inhabitants of Suzdal, who came by water in the 12th century, more precisely along the upper course of the Vetluga River, began to populate these places gradually. The edges here are so beautiful that villages developed in this protected area, houses were not built along a long street, but were erected in a circle. Turning to archival sources, we find confirmation that initially two churches were built, and the village was called not Kruglyzhi, but Znamenskoye. The main page of many archives contains unique photographs of the parish, priests and natural landscapes, on which the Church of the Sign of the Mother of God (Kruglyzhsky) was erected from wood. The years of its foundation are 1700s. The village of Kryglyzhi is one of the oldest preserved places in the region. There were also two schools in the village. One is at the church, the second is common.
In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the river is represented in the form of 103 different reservoirs, including large and small rivers. On the river are the cities of Vetluga and Voskresenskoye, as well as the working village of Krasnye Baki. All these are fairly large settlements with an ancient settlement history. On the site of the village of Krasnye baki, there was once a Mari settlement, which was destroyed in the 1320s, and then in the middle of 1550s a settlement was created, essentially consisting of two small adjacent settlements called "Large barrels" and "Small barrels" ... And then later they were transformed into a village with a single name Boki. But since the population in this area placed great emphasis on pronouncing the letter A instead of O, the name of the village began to be pronounced like Baki. This place has been of strategic importance in the past. It was an important trade route between Vyatka and N. Ovgorod. The workers' settlement is one of the largest regional settlements. Not far from these places is the Svetloyar Lake, which is not only an ecologically clean place, but also an excellent storehouse of the purest water. The unique properties of the water from this lake are confirmed by the locals, who store it for a long time, and the effect and taste do not change. The water here is always clear, never overgrown with mud. Someone perceives such places and wonders as anomalous zones. But since water has had such properties for centuries, the only possible definition is the special atmosphere and miraculous environment in these parts. You can call it one of the best places to see and visit here. The lake itself is located on the territory belonging to the reserve. Therefore, if vacationers come here, it is forbidden to light fires and set up tents here. Especially for tourists with tents, there is an area located near these places. These rules should be followed strictly.
“The location of Nizhny Novgorod is the most beautiful of everything I've seen in Russia. This is the place from which to paint a picture, "- said the French publicist Astolphe de Custine about the capital of the Volga region. And he was not far from the truth. During the Russian Empire, the city on the Volga was called the "pocket of Russia". At the famous Nizhny Novgorod fair, all trade routes converged and the largest deals were concluded. A square meter of land next to the fair in the 19th century was more expensive than on Nevsky Prospekt. In memory of those times, old merchant houses and fairgrounds have been preserved in the city.

Thanks to the actively developing trade, the city has earned the title of “Russia's pocket”. That is why its history is inextricably linked with the old merchant families. Blinovs, Bugrovs, Rukavishnikovs, Bashkirovs ... Each of them tried to become famous not only for success in business, but also for charity. The beautiful buildings are reminiscent of those times. From end to end, from southwest to northeast, our region lies for half a thousand kilometers. Its lands, now forest, now almost steppe, freely spread along both banks of the great Russian river Volga, going far to the north and south, to where the Vetluga flows from the north, and from the south - the main right tributary of the Volga Oka and Sura, where the steppes and forest-steppes end and forests begin, first deciduous, and then mixed and coniferous. The territory of the region, thus, being at the junction of different natural zones, as a whole has transitional features of nature, differing in significant landscape diversity.
