Preparing for kayaking

Organization and conduct of a tourist trip

In different parts of the world, tourists can engage in a variety of entertainment, both extreme and simply active, who likes what they prefer, however, some active entertainment is attributed to extreme, so or not, as a result, a person has to figure it out from his own experience.

Rafting on kayaks, both on large bodies of water or rivers, and on the sea, is considered a similar controversial entertainment, however, depending on the terrain, this activity can be either just active or extreme.

What is kayaking

First of all, you need to understand that kayaks differ from a simple boat by their narrower shape and strong frame, which can be covered with both waterproof fabric and iron or plastic.

The person who sits in it fastens the so-called "skirt" in such a way that water does not get inside. As for the spaciousness, no more than three people can usually fit in a maximum of one boat (a boat with a larger capacity is quite rare).

As you can understand, the boat moves at the expense of human strength, respectively, for those who have rather weak physical training, such a rest will seem rather difficult and this must be taken into account in advance. If necessary, a sail can be attached to such a boat, but this is relevant only on open water bodies or seas, for sailing along rivers, they will only interfere.

Where relevant

Due to its shape, this type of boat is very relevant for river rafting, as it is convenient to control it and nothing interferes with a person. More rarely, they are used on lakes or seas, however, for a solo trip, they will be quite relevant, especially if a person wants to enjoy nature alone. In many places, they can be easily rented, so such a vacation will not be a problem, moreover, it will not cost very much.

A person who is going to raft must have two sets of clothes, dry into which he will change after the rafting, and actually wet in which the rafting will take place. A dry set should be more complete (jacket, warm shoes, a T-shirt, pants), and a wet one can consist of a swimsuit or just light clothing that dries and gets wet easily (it is important that it does not hinder movement).

As for the rafting itself, a person must wear a life jacket, even if he knows how to swim perfectly.

Preparing for kayaking

If you are interested in hiking or mountain trekking and you are either already an experienced “walker” or a novice hiker, you have come to the right place anyway. In this article I will talk about a few basic points that relate to planning and organizing hiking trips in the mountains; development of the route of the hike; the formation of the layout of food in the hike; a little about the equipment.

Determining the goal of the hiking trip

First of all, you need to decide for what purpose you plan to go on a hike; further steps in the organization will depend on this. For each, the options can be different, for example:

  • test your strength and walk 100 kilometers in five days;
  • climb to the top of 3 thousand meters;
  • relax and enjoy nature ;
  • walk through the most beautiful places of the mountain reserve;
  • just try: what is a hiking trip in the mountains?

Feel free to add your own options. The main thing is to determine the goal. Let's say you decide to take a break and find out what a hiking trip is.

Preliminary organization and planning of the trip

The next stage concerns the participants of the event, the duration of the hike in days, laying the route of the track, depending on the preparation and goals of other participants. So.

  • Gather a group on a hike. Of course, it will be good if some of your friends or acquaintances have already participated in the hike earlier, in this case, you can consult on various issues with a person who has experience. If there is no such person, you just need to work out all the steps in detail.
  • Determine the number of days you want to hike. At the same time, it is worth remembering a few important things:
    • the longer the trip, the more weight you will have to carry;
    • the longer the trip, the more difficult it is to plan a clear route (especially without experience);
  • Season. Depending on this parameter, you will form a route, determine the necessary equipment and food layout.

Further, starting from the number of people of their preparation and the potential number of days of the hike, you can proceed to the next stages.

Plan your trekking route

Depending on the athletic training of the group members, the number of girls/guys, the duration, you need to decide on the route. The start/finish of the route in most cases is tied to the points of civilization where you can arrive/leave by transport, therefore, depending on the estimated duration of the hike, you may or may not go further from civilization. When planning a walking route, consider:

In different parts of the world, tourists can engage in a variety of entertainment, both extreme and just active, who likes what they like best, however

Selecting the type of hiking trip

Hiking trips, as one of the types of recreation, are different in type, duration and difficulty. For many participants in a tourist trip, the sports component of such an event is not very important. You and your companions should understand what you want to get from such a trip. Indeed, in most cases, many participants in the hike just want to relax without unnecessary mental and physical stress.

There are quite a large number of hiking trips, namely: walking, mountain, cycling, water, etc. Therefore, first of all, you should choose the type of hiking that would be most interesting to you. But you must always take into account that each of the species has its own characteristic features. For example, for a water trip you need to have special equipment - kayak, raft, catamaran, boat, life jackets, etc.

Of all types, the most accessible is a walking tour. As in all cases, you need to have camping equipment, namely a backpack, a sleeping bag, a tent, etc., such equipment is much more affordable and, in extreme cases, can be easily purchased at rental points.

Let's talk about how to properly prepare and conduct a hiking tour so that the participants of this event get the most out of it.

Search and selection of travel companions

We often go hiking with friends and acquaintances. The selection of such a team minimizes the possibility of conflict situations, which in turn greatly facilitates the process of preparing and conducting the tourist trip itself. You can also go hiking with unfamiliar people, but you still need to see these people at least once and communicate with them live. You must remember that your fellow travelers can both brighten up and ruin your trip. In this case, the age or gender of the fellow travelers is not so important, but first of all, their psychological compatibility is important.

If you are going to organize a hike, then you must at least once gather all the participants in the hike, discuss the route of the hike with them, distribute the responsibilities of each participant in the hike.

You must determine the composition of the group yourself, if you are the organizer of the trip, but it should be borne in mind that the composition of the group should be within 4-8 people. Such a number of participants makes it possible not to overload each participant in the campaign with public equipment - tents, axes, bowlers, etc., which makes it possible to maintain the mobility of the group.

Setting hike goals and route selection

When choosing a route, and at the stage of preparation for the hike, it is necessary to correctly plan the route itself, and at the same time, one must take into account the possibility of various types of emergency situations - illness of one of the group members, worsening weather conditions, etc. Objectives that you put in front of you are made on the basis of data on the proposed route. In the event that your route involves significant physical activity, then at the preparation stage it is necessary to take into account the physical data of all participants in the hike. When the participants of the trip have no experience in hiking, then in this case it is best to choose a well-marked route with tourist signs. It should also be borne in mind that even well-marked routes are of varying degrees of difficulty, in which case you should choose a route that would suit the physical capabilities of the members of your tour group. On a hike, the speed of the group is always determined by the speed of the weakest participant. In the event that there are beginners in your group, plan to walk no more than 15 km per day, if the hike lasts up to 4 days, and if the duration of your hike is more than 4 days, then it is recommended to walk no more than 10 km per day.

When developing routes, you should use tourist maps, or, as a last resort, find a route using the Internet. Very often on the Internet, along with route maps, detailed reports are provided, where all the nuances of the tourist route are described in detail. It is imperative in such cases to take into account the weather conditions, familiarize yourself with the weather forecast, and also take into account the seasonal characteristics in the area. Be sure to plan alternative access routes in case you deviate from the route. It should also be borne in mind that telephone communication often does not work in mountainous areas.

Determine the difficulty level

To determine the difficulty of the hike, you need to take into account the following parameters.

Duration and mileage

Find out how many days your hike will take. The details of the route and the speed with which you will need to go will depend on this.

In this case, it is necessary to correctly calculate your strength: it is important to understand how many kilometers per day you can overcome if you move at a pace that is comfortable for you.

You can also go the other way around: decide first what you want to watch, and then determine how many days you need to do it.

Altitude differences

The mileage is also strongly influenced by the descents and ascents on the route. The more there are and the more difficult (longer and steeper) they are, the more tiring the hike becomes. This means that the more difficult it will be to overcome the same distance.

Landscape and weather conditions

Features of the landscape are not only mountains, forests and rivers, but also mud, sands, "loose" (small pebbles flying from under your feet), swamps and the like. All this is noticeably exhausting, even if you don't have to climb anywhere. Rain and gusts of wind also take time and energy.
