Attractions of Primorsky Krai: 35 best with photos and descriptions

We go out on the water early - firstly, the sea is as calm as possible and there is no wind, and secondly, good dawn light is ideal for photographs. We take a lot of photographs and take pictures - in such amazing places we want to create.

When hiking in the Sea of Japan, a lot depends on the weather - sometimes we stand in one place for a day or two until the storm subsides (and it happens quite often here).

We will see unique stones sticking out of the sea - kekuras, among them there will be the most famous kekuras Two Brothers, kekuras Stone Forest, where stones look like trees or mushrooms - as you like. This place is little known because it is difficult to get to, but all the effort is worth it! We will meet many arches and grottoes that are visible only from the water. We will see a seal rookery (seals) and admire these beautiful creatures.

Let's get acquainted with the underwater world of the Sea of Japan by diving with a mask. It is interesting to dive here: there are 10 species of sea stars alone, as well as mussels, hedgehogs, oysters, scallop, squid and octopus! All this can be obtained during snorkelling. Note that for the second half of September it will be already cool to swim for a long time, it is better to take a neoprene suit with you.

History of the region. The first Russian explorers visited Primorye in the middle of the 17th century, but Russia's active development of the Far Eastern territories began only from the middle of the 19th century. Many places here are named after V. Arsenyev, who traveled and explored this region. Part of our route will pass through these places.

The indigenous people of these places are Udege. Once upon a time they were excellent hunters and connoisseurs of these places. So, Arsenyev had a guide on the expedition, Dersu Uzala, who helped him a lot in his travels. Now there are almost no Udege people left, and those that remain live on Bikin (this is a river).

Kayaks. We go on kayaks Khatanga-3 Sport, 2 people per boat (you can also join on your own ships). We chose Khatanga because we consider it the optimal boat for long autonomous expeditions. It accommodates a lot of things, it is stable, with a closed deck, it is easy to repair and holds the wave well, while developing a fairly good speed. It is also important that it is safer to dock and sail into the wave on inflatable kayaks. Let's not forget about a nice bonus - such a kayak serves as a comfortable sofa on the shore.

Conditions and comfort. We live in tents. Parking on pebble beaches in wild bays. We cook food at the stake in turn, appointing duty officers with the help of instructors. There is almost always fresh water at the parking lots; we also carry a small supply of water with us. We burn the garbage or carry it with us.

Weather. In early September and August, the water temperature is about 20 degrees, by the end of September it drops to 15-16. The air in September is about 15-25 degrees.

The coast of Primorye, along which we will go, is located at the latitude of the Black Sea. Despite the similarity of the climate with Central Russia, everything here shifts by a month. The warmest month is August, the coldest is February. September is optimal for travel: the midges are gone, the sea is still warm, the days are dry and warm, and the nights are cool.

Fishing. Fishing is good in the sea, but not always, fishing is seasonal. Flounder, navaga, pelengas, cod are caught. To catch a crab, you need to use a crab catcher.

Travel in Primorsky Krai

Rafting down the river, either as an autonomous tourist hike with overnight stays on the shore, or as a gambling sports descent along a mountain river during high water, or as a multi-day rafting, where the main focus is amateur fishing - an unforgettable pleasure! Many people choose just such an active vacation. Yes, of course, in this case, you will have to drag the load to the starting point, which is not small in weight, but then the river carries the boat with the load and you to boot. “But the river is not up to the entrance of the house,” you say. “Well, you love to ride, love to carry sledges,” I will answer.

Of course, for a safe rafting, you need to choose a time with little water. And the time period for rafting down the rivers of Primorsky Krai is quite long - from May to November.

Lyrical digression

For residents of the city, river rafting is also an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Primorsky Territory for several days. Climb farther to the source of the river and, pumping up the boats, move down the river. But this is not a relaxed walk. Here the river narrows and flows between the hills, a little further it spreads out and already carries the boat along the rapids and stones, and in an hour the river will carry the boat to a deep reach near the cliff. In the evening, having chosen a gentle shore, set up tents, light a fire, catch fish and cook fish soup. Meanwhile, the dark sky will cover you with a starry dome.

Seaside landscapes replace each other while rafting down the river. Mountains and hills overgrown with impenetrable taiga, trees hanging by lianas above the water, huge pines uprooted, blocking out a section of the river, now a bank washed up with fine sand, now heaped with large pebbles, transparent greenery along the coast in early spring, dense in summer, and in autumn painted with bright orange yellow paints, damp fogs in the morning, cumulus clouds in August and clear high skies in autumn, decorated with a rainbow on the horizon, strewn with bright stars at night ... the list is endless! And you can also go a little deeper into the taiga in search of coastal wild plants.

Practical rationale

Of course, the main advantage of a multi-day rafting is fishing. During rafting down the river, fishermen are free to choose a place to fish. And you can already fish not only from the shore, but also on the move from the boat. Indeed, in some places, river banks are difficult to pass, and in this case, access from the river by boat gives an advantage - new places for fishing: stretches, rifts, pits, backwaters. Take grayling for example. Although, this is where the difficulties begin, since it is difficult to take it (sorry for the pun). There are few places where grayling is caught excellently and where it is still not frightened; besides, these places are hard to reach. There is only one way out - a multi-day rafting on a mountain river and as far as possible from civilization - cities, villages, towns.

Primorsky Krai is one of the most exotic regions of Russia, not only in terms of culture, but also in terms of natural attractions. Here Siberian taiga is combined with tropical plants, deer coexist with tigers, and sea fish are found in freshwater lakes. A variety of flora and fauna, wonderful mountains, picturesque reservoirs, mysterious caves, magnificent waterfalls - nothing will leave you indifferent in this amazing land on the border of two cultural worlds.

The most beautiful places in Primorsky Krai: TOP-

The main natural attractions of the region are unique reserves and natural monuments that cannot be found in any other corner of the world.

Far Eastern Marine Reserve

  • Coordinates on the map: 42.36994, 131.28028.

The protected area on the coast of the Sea of Japan is a unique place. Almost the entire territory is occupied by water depths with their amazing inhabitants and vegetation: fish, molluscs, algae. The reserve came to the protection of marine nature in 1979, and 24 years later, UNESCO assessed its importance and included in the list of biosphere reserves.

The reserve is divided into four sections, three of them are located in the Khasansky district, the fourth - in the neighboring Pervomaisky, on the Popov island.

There are 11 islands in the protected area, as well as hundreds of bird and plant species. The reserve beckons tourists with a coastline covered with white sand, clear sea and dizzying views. On the rocky reefs in Astafiev Bay, seals often rest, causing great delight in children and adults.

Dragon Park

  • GPS coordinates: 43.59262, 133.61812.

Despite the loud name, the park is not at all intended for fabulous flying creatures. High light rocks, whose outlines resemble amazing birds and animals, are called dragons here.

Primorsky Krai is many-sided and amazing. The mysterious taiga here meets the Pacific Ocean, and Europe - with Asia. A place where you can see a fascinating underwater world, mysterious grottoes and sheer cliffs, turbulent mountain rivers and picturesque waterfalls, a place where wild and beautiful cats have settled: Amur tigers and Far Eastern leopards.

The Primorsky Territory is loved by tourists for the coast of the warm ice-free Sea of Japan, exotic cuisine and the freshest seafood and, of course, for nature reserves and mountain slopes.

Fans of extreme sports come here to go rafting on rivers and ski slopes, sailing and windsurfing.
