Vologda Oblast Tourism

Like an ide jumping out of the water, Lake Vozhe bent to the north. In the middle, on the Spas Island, in 1472 the Vozhezersky Monastery was founded. But something went wrong with the monks. After 300 years, the monastery was closed, but one of the churches functioned until 1870. The lake is unique. 20 rivers flow into it, relict elms, junipers up to 15 m high have survived on the banks, a taiga liana, calypso orchids and Mary's shoe grow. The banks of the furnace are overgrown with reeds. The name originates from the Vepsians, but the locals often call the lake Charond.

Cherendak

There are still legends that in ancient times Vepsian water Cherendak lived in Vozha. He is not an angry type, grazing mermaids, and in the spring he chopped off the ice near the shores so that the lake would be cleared faster. But the Russians did not like it: they say, the evil spirits themselves are full - why else is Vepsian? They suggested that Cerendak move to another place, and name the city after him. This flattered Cherendaka, he moved to White Lake, and the Russians, on the western, less muddy shore, built the village of Charonda.

City

The Chronicles mention Charonda in the 13th century. Along rivers, portages and lakes, the path from Beloye Lake to the Frozen Sea and Dvinskaya land passed here. In the 15th century, then still a village, Charonda belonged to the Belozersk customs officer Esip Okishev. He was a devout man, and gave Charond to the monastery. Under Ivan lV, she moved to the oprichnina. Gostiny Dvor was built, which burned down in the fire of the Time of Troubles. It is possible that foreign merchants also traveled to Charonda from the White Sea. Having suffered greatly in the Time of Troubles, Charonda quickly recovered. In 1708 she received the status of a city, in which she stayed for 50 years. The population of Charonda was 10,000 people, less lived in Arkhangelsk. The extinction began with the development of St. Petersburg. Trade through Arkhangelsk decreased, goods went bypassing Charonda.

Destiny

The last time the journey through Charonda came in handy in the Civil War. Steamships with supplies went along the Vozha until 1920, when the invaders were driven out of the North. Under the USSR, a fishing collective farm was created here, a farm, warehouses were built, and telephone communications were installed on poles. The road was never built, and it has never been here. Charonda is located, as it were, on an island: on one side there is a lake, and on the other there are swamps and swamps. You can get to Charonda by boat in summer, and skiing and snowmobiling in winter, as in the 13th century. Only there were no snowmobiles then.

Today and yesterday

From 1627 to 1708. Charonda was under the jurisdiction of the Order of the Great Palace: goods and food for the royal family were bought here. Charonda today is a dozen crumbling, many of which are two-storeyed with mezzanines, huts and a dilapidated three-altar Church of Zlatoust (1825), with preserved interior painting. In recent years, the flow of tourists who are tired of lying on the beaches has been increasing. Charonda is a place where you want to return.

By the way, according to rumors, Cherendak also returned and lives in an abandoned well.

Sophia and Spassky Cathedrals

Sightseeing tours in Vologda

When people come fishing, they want not only to catch fish, but also to have a rest. Some people like noisy companies when they can have fun sharing experiences around a campfire with campers. But most people are tired of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Fishermen are special people, and for the most part they love solitude. Vologda reservoirs are wonderful quiet places with clean water and shores that are not polluted with household waste. Here you can fish, and pick up mushrooms and berries, and enjoy the silence to your heart's content. The fish here is the same as in the rest of the European part of Russia, but its quantity is noticeably greater than in other regions, and there is enough space for fishing.

Sights of the Kirillovsky district

The area is located in the northwestern part of the Vologda Oblast, among the vast water resources and forests. The region is popular with ecotourists, fishermen, and nature hikers with tents. A moderate continental climate is typical for the entire region - severe snowy winters with frosts down to -20 ° С, moderately humid, cool summers with an average air temperature of + 18 ° С.

The area is rich in minerals:

  • peat bogs ;
  • sapropel ;
  • sulfide waters;
  • calcium minerals.

Kirillovsky district has many historical and cultural attractions, many of which serve as places of pilgrimage for believing Christians.

  • Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery;
  • Ferapontovsky Monastery;
  • Temple of Elijah the Prophet;
  • Goritsky Monastery; <
  • Church of St. John Chrysostom.

Despite the abundance of historical monuments, the most popular among tourists are the famous reservoirs, of which there are more than 100. The largest lake in the area is White, which has a depth of up to 20 meters. It is the source of the Sheksna River and the mouth of 17 rivers and streams. By size Beloe is the seventh largest lake in Europe. In addition to Bely, 17 other reservoirs are popular.

Fishing on the Sukhona River

Sukhona is the main artery of the Vologda region. The most promising fishing is carried out in the lower and middle reaches. Fishermen come here for pike, perch, ide, bream, chub, roach, bleak, asp. Float and bottom gear are popular here.

Ide is especially popular among fishermen of the Vologda Oblast. Individuals up to 400 grams peck constantly. The larger ide is usually spinning with the little thing, but its bites are very rare. Ide fishing is most promising near reefs or on fossilized clay ridges. However, this should not be taken as a rule, since the ide very often goes to the washed-up sand spits.
