Passion for Tanzania: Eco-tourism in all its diversity

If there is a country among the African states that has collected on its territory everything that the nature of Africa is rich in, then this is Tanzania. The subequatorial climate is mild due to the breathing of the Indian Ocean; the richest flora and fauna of the vast plateaus and coastal lowlands, stretching along the entire eastern oceanic border of Tanzania; island resorts, natural parks and comfortable beaches attract tourists here literally from all over the world.

If Europe attracts travelers with a mass of architectural and historical monuments, museums and other treasures of civilization, then Tanzania is chosen by those who want to spend a vacation as close as possible in nature, having a rest from the bustle of megacities and urbanization in all its manifestations.

Wildlife Engagement

This country has everything that lies behind the delectably sweet word "safari". By the way, the word itself comes from here - it came into the lexicon of Europeans from East Africa, although since then it has significantly changed its meaning, completely losing its bloodlust: contrary to its original meaning, the African safari in the national parks of Tanzania today is a "quiet" hunt, the most formidable weapon in which cameras act. But on the other hand, the production will be unimaginably diverse! Landscapes of stunning beauty, exotic for Europe animals in their natural habitat, colorful faces of guides, brutal hunting vehicles and appropriate equipment will remain in the pictures that will revive pleasant memories for many years and will certainly arouse the envy of friends.

Zanzibar Island - is it really a heavenly place or a deception of travel agencies? Resting at this African resort, which has recently become so popular among Russian tourists, may leave a double impression. We flew there on our own, without planning anything in advance, and we want to tell you what you should know in advance so as not to get upset on vacation.

Zanzibar Vacation Prices

Honestly, given the economic situation and the way Tanzania lives in general, prices in the resorts of Zanzibar are clearly overpriced. We will not consider the most expensive or the cheapest hotels, since such a range of prices can be found anywhere, but hotels of the “middle” class are by no means cheap. A more or less normal room with shower and toilet costs from 70 euros per day.

Food is the same. For example, on the mainland of Tanzania, even in tourist places, you can easily eat for 4-5 euros with a drink. In Zanzibar, any restaurant will cost at least 12 euros per person (without a drink). You just need to be prepared for the fact that you will give no less for a vacation in Zanzibar than, for example, on a vacation in Spain.

Car rental

We are used to renting a car anytime and anywhere and exploring places on our own and not depending on anyone. So it is not so easy to rent a car in Zanzibar. Firstly, it will have to be booked sooooo in advance, since there are not many of them available. Secondly, you will need local rights.

In practice, you just have to pay someone and you will be given them. It is also worth remembering that this is Africa and the roads are either bad or not there =) Therefore, it is better to take the car higher and 4x4. And be sure to stock up on cash in small bills - the police constantly stop and come up with something to fine, so you will have to hand out money.

Beaches and low tides

In the pictures on the Internet, you will always see the beaches of Zanzibar with crystal clear azure waters. Is it really? Well, the water is really beautiful there. BUT - Zanzibar has wild ebb and flow! This must be borne in mind when booking accommodation from one side of the island or the other. Be sure to check when the tide is low in order to understand when it is better to swim, and when to go on excursions.

During low tide it is interesting to walk along the beach and look at marine life - stars, crabs, etc., but be sure to wear rubber slippers - the number of sea urchins is simply off scale! The same goes for bathing.

Be careful with food and water

Spending one part of the holiday among the wild animals of the African savanna, and the other, enjoying the underwater world of the Indian Ocean, is easier than it seems

The wonderful country Tanzania has not yet turned into a massive tourist destination. And despite the fact that every year the number of people wishing to travel to East Africa is gradually increasing, but still they are either travelers ready for adventures, or those who have traveled many countries and, in pursuit of exoticism, have chosen the only right decision for themselves, once in year to observe the migration of elephants. Others think that Tanzania is too far, too expensive and too dangerous. Although they are fundamentally wrong.

Weather in Tanzania. Tanzania is located on the east coast of Africa, in the equator region. Accordingly, the temperature of water and air is even here all year round. The "long rains" season from March to early May is not suitable for safari - it erodes roads, and the "short rains" season in November is also uncomfortable.

HOW TO GET TO TANZANIA AND ZANZIBAR

The starting point for our journey is Dar es Salaam. There are no direct flights, all with transfers. The most convenient connection and the shortest flight time is through Cairo. Ticket prices are comparable to southeast destinations, but often even cheaper.

So, tickets are purchased, you can start planning your trip. By the way, take the time to get a visa at the Tanzanian Embassy, you will need a minimum of documents:

- passport, the validity of the document must be at least 3 months from the date of departure from Tanzania;

- 2 photos 3.5 × 4.5 on a blue background, matte;

- 2500 rubles - visa fee.

There are no queues at the Tanzanian Embassy at all, the visa is taken for two days. Theoretically, a visa can also be obtained upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, but they may require a certificate of vaccination, and if it is not there or it is somehow different. In general, make a visa without any information in Moscow, it’s calmer. Divide a standard two-week trip exactly in half: a week at sea, a week on a safari, in any order.

Tanzania

Tanzania is an East African state, which came about after the merger of the colonies - Tanganyika and Zanzibar. And in 1961, Tanganyika gained independence, followed by Zanzibar. Then this two independent states decided to unite and merged into the United Republic of Tanzania.

Despite the fact that this is an African hot country, 6% is the water surface.

There are two official languages: English, which is used all over the world, and their personal, Swahili. In fact, no one knows English.

Tanzania has two capitals - administrative and legislative.

The official money in the state is the Tanzanian shilling. Note! You can import and export any currency except Tanzanian.

The population of Tanzania is 50,000,000 people.

The climate in the state is equatorial, monsoons prevail. On average, the year-round daytime temperature does not exceed 22-25 degrees. However, at night it drops to +10 minimum, so evenings and nights are very cold here. The rainy season occurs once or twice a year - from May to July. And the best time to travel is considered the whole winter and the beginning of spring (December, January, February to mid-March) and mid-summer to the end of autumn (from July to November).

Holidays in Tanzania: when and where to go and what to see

Holidays in Tanzania are sandy beaches, beautiful rocks, unusual fish and much more. For some, there will be a real extreme here: you can climb the highest point in Africa - volcano Kilimanjaro, see with your own eyes its snow-capped peak, 5895 km high.

You can visit Tanzania any time of the year, there is always something to do. Moreover, the rainy season differs depending on the territorial location: in one part of the state it is once a year, in the second - two. To choose the time of your trip, it is better to use Google or ask people who have already rested here. It is important to rely on the hunting season (closed from April 1 to June 30) and animal migration, otherwise you might miss out on the fun.

Please note: you should not travel to the south of the country between February and March, as everything here becomes inaccessible due to eroded soil after rains.

Safari is the main feature of tourist Tanzania. To exclaim enough "look, watch how the elephant eats" or "wow, what a cat, well, our Dymok looks like, just more" tourists from all over the world come here. There are still few Russian citizens among them, and there are not a single "budget" tourists at all: safari is not a cheap pleasure.

However, with all the advantages of the country's national parks, combined tours are more popular here than "pure" safaris. And this is no wonder: snow-white sandy beaches, a rich underwater world and interesting excursions of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia attract tourists tired of the mainland safari, no less than overgrown elephants and cats.

Safari lasting 3 and 5 days.

Luxury safari with overnight stays at Melia, Lemala, Four Seasons lodges at a special price.
